“25th Anniversary”

We were greeted by beautiful, quiet surroundings and a deer! We stayed in the Sherwin and it was large, clean, and the bed was quite comfortable. We love Chagrin Falls. There are many very good restaurants and it is a nice town for walking. We drove 3 1/2 hours and it was well worth it. We would like to see the breakfast beefed up a little. Just a few home made items would have made a big difference. Can't wait to come back!

What a nice gem of a place we discovered about the Club at Hillbrook! We were recent guests at this property, due to a fabulous little offer from Travel Zoo. Although it was an overcast (and then eventual downpour of rain) Tuesday that we checked in, we were just in awe of the expansive & breathtaking grounds of The Club at Hillbrook, not to mention the charming circular brick driveway which leads up to the property. We were able to snap some beautiful pictures behind the property, walking along the creek back towards the gazebo, and into some tree-filled pathways along the right of the property. Unfortunately, the pool was not an option during our stay due to the weather. I could imagine a warm, sunny relaxing day spent there, hearing the bounce of the tennis balls off swinging rackets from tennis courts just off to the left behind the pool area!
So, we enter the front door of the Club at Hillbrook & there's absolutely nobody around. It gave us the opportunity (after about 5-8 minutes of standing in the front foyer) to wander around a bit to see the main floor. We did hear voices coming from upstairs, so up the staircase we went, down a hallway & found 2 workers in an office area; assistance was quickly summoned (along with an apology!) & off to see our accommodations it was. We had booked the Griswold Suite, which happened to be the only suite on the 3rd floor. Upon entering the room, we were amazed at the spaciousness of the suite~it was more than we could've imagined! Not only was the main area large, but it had a kitchenette, which was a nice touch! There was a huge dining room table (enough seating for probably 8-10 people) and the living room area had nice couches & a large flat screen tv. There were beautiful leaded glass windows which overlooked the property, so it was nice to have them open & get a fresh breeze through there. The ceilings were sloped in that top suite, so that added a different feel to the more modern decor that the Griswold Suite encompassed. I would've much preferred a more Victorian look to that room, but there were other suites decorated that way, so it's an option the next time we would stay there. Additionally, the Griswold Suite sleeps at least 6-8 people, so that's a plus for a larger party who might choose to stay there.
I must say that Bernard was a FABULOUS host during our stay there! He graciously showed us around the property (inside & out!) and just gave us a great history lesson about The Club at Hillbrook.
Our overnight package included dinner & we couldn't wait for that! This is a bottle club, so it's necessary to bring your own wine/spirits to the dinner table & I believe there's a corking fee, but really, we didn't have a problem with that. It was a party of "4" at our table, and "Alex" was our server for the evening. She did a wonderful job & was attentive and pleasant! Our appetizer of choice was the Lobster macaroni & cheese ~ my mouth is watering just thinking about it again! It came out hot & absolutely delicious...I'd order it again! Then came the salad...mine was the field greens with balsamic
dressing, & I also sampled the caesar salad, which was tasty as well. The main course was the fillet mignon ~ absolutely a fabulously prepared fillet & I would highly recommend! My fiancee` had the pork chop, also prepared well & the sea bass was also ordered by a guest in our party. I did sample the pork chop & indeed it was a winner (didn't sample the sea bass, but was told it was delicious as well). For dessert, we chose the creme` brulee & and that was just as delicious as could be!
After dinner, we took a short little stroll into the library (Bernard informed us that the wood in there was 400 years old!) & you could feel the history of the house just being in that room.
I loved all of the antiques (furniture, etc) which filled the many rooms of the house...there was an absolutely gorgeous marble fireplace in the large living room/parlor area & a lot of mismatched furniture there as well, but we didn't spend time there (nor were any of the other guests who were staying there).
Morning came & check out was at 11:00 ~ we did miss out on the continental breakfast, but there was a self-serve Kuerig coffee maker on the 2nd floor, if we desired coffee in the morning.
Check out was a breeze & off we went....driving away from The Club at Hillbrook left me wanting to experience it again in the future! It's great for Cleveland locals ~ you feel like you're on a trip somewhere, but it's really just a short drive back!

Room Tip: Griswold Suite is perfect for a larger party (family of 4-6-8); you have the top floor to yourselves...

What a wonderful two evenings! The rooms are very charming, clean and large. Although it was a little nerve-racking drive for us (from Michigan) many busy highways, it was well worth it. The staff is very relaxed and helpfu,l the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The dining is excellent (outside on the veranda) and the fitness room was a plus. The continental breakfast was great (also enjoyed outside)! Chargin Falls is a very quaint small town with many shops. We plan on another visit. Only one other couple was in the Club for the two nights. Tuesday night we were supposed to have a dining credit but there was no dining on Tuesday so we went to town for dinner. We were allowed to use our "two" dining credits on Wednesday night, which was nice.

Room Tip: We looked on -line and chose the "Sherwin" room...it looked bright and big on the club'...

We had our wedding at the Hillbrook during summer 2012 and had a wonderful experience! The grounds are absolutely breathtaking, and there are a number of different sites for the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, etc. The rooms are pretty spacious, very charming, and in impeccable condition. But the best part of the Hillbrook is its staff. Over the severals prior to and during our wedding, the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. They bent over backwards to make sure that we had everything we needed and that everything was in order. I cannot say enough good things about the Hillbrook!

Room Tip: we loved the Chisholm--beautiful. the sherwin is very large and has a huge bathroom.

My husband and I went for 2 nights on Wed/Thurs. We had a wonderful time. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and bath were spacious, very clean, and quiet. The bed was so comfortable. We stayed in the Josephine, and I loved the room. The only drawback was that the view was of the roof of the patio. The breakfast was fine for me - assorted cereal boxes, milk, juice, coffee, bottled water, bagels, coffee cake, yogurt, apples, oranges, and homemade granola. The wait staff and cook at the restaurant were awesome in accomodating my food allergies. I found their food delicious! We had a great time in the pool, on the tennis courts, and exploring the grounds. Am definitely looking forward to coming again sometime!

Very odd and disconcerting experience. First- had "critters" scratching in walls so we were moved to another room.
No other guests- I guess due to it being a weekday. However, all the staff left the inn around 6 in the evening on Monday and never returned. The front door to the inn was left unlocked. We felt very uncomfortable being in a deserted inn in secluded location- we tried to call front desk- no answer. We called the after hours line- no answer and no one responded to the message we left. Is it standard to abandon your guests? I have never had this experience before! We finally left and drove 4 hours home in the middle of the night. What a disappointing stay.

We did the LivingSocial special at The Hillbrook Club. We we very pleased with the room (we stayed in the Chisholm suite). The room was a nice size, the bathroom was extra large and new. It was all very clean. We ate dinner at the club and that too was excellent (but a bit pricey). We walked the grounds and they were beautiful. The whole area was super quiet and peaceful. It was one nice night away from home.
