To each his own, there's plenty of activity going on, in and about the lodge. You can take part in enjoying the pool, or grab that camera & hit those trails............the wildlife is breathtaking as those deer just appear out of no where, not to mention the bunnies, squirrels and quite a variety of birds.........oh, oh, oh and I can't forget that quick glimpse of a fox. But if you just want to kick back and savor your time away from the rest of the world, may I recommend pulling that stuffed chair out on the balcony and have at it. A trip to the Golf Course just magnified Nature's Beauty, it shows the commitment of the course employees and the pride they take in their work. When your stomach starts rumbling, don't think twice, just head for the lodge restaurant.....you'll surely find a tasty treat that will satisify even the pickiest of eaters. All in all, our 3.5 hour drive away from home, seemed to take place worlds away.......enjoyed by ALL!

On our drive from Central NJ to Indianapolis, Salt Fork seemed like a good just-over-halfway stopping point...what a great gem we've discovered! The area itself is beautiful and Salt Fork is like a private nature sanctuary! It was probably not too crowded due to chilly weather and time of year but for hiking and exploring nature (especially with kids), it was a great experience. Our waitress at breakfast treated our 5 yr. old daughter like a queen and helped to make it a special meal. We look forward to coming back again for a longer stay.

The Salt Fork Lodge was magnificent. The compound was beautifully maintained. The rooms and public areas were clean. The staff were courteous and polite. The restaurant foods and service was impeccable.

I completely recommend this lodge for any getaway. Whether alone or with family, friends, etc.

We were overall very happy with our stay at Salt Fork. The trails were interesting, the lakeside cabins have screened porches overlooking the lake, and the staff was pleasant and accommodating. We'd definitely go back. The one sour note was the food. Not that it was bad, but the menu mentions the "Chef" several times, so when I was served a standard-issue Sysco precooked burger, I was very unpleasantly surprised. Any Chef who would serve this in his restaurant doesn't deserve the title. It's not that hard to cook burgers to order.

You'll feel away from it all at this fantastic resort. The park on which the lodge is set is around 12,000 acres, so you'll feel relaxed and well removed from your normal routine. The premisis is clean, the staff very friendly and courteous, and the food is great. My wife and I stayed in a cabin and it was like we were in the middle of nowhere. Lots of wildlife, beautiful scenery, and the lodge reminded us of Beaver Creek, Colorado. The town of Cambrdige is just a few minutes away, and we spent a day there just shopping. The stores in town offer items for sale that are unique, so you wont go home empty handed. We will be back!

If you want to escape, this is the place. Enough to stay busy, enough space to be isolated. You are only 20 minutes from civilization but it seems like hundreds of miles. Hiking, swimming (indoor/outdoor), golf (great course), fishing, acres & acres of wildlife, a lounge for the nightlife, secluded fireplace areas, and much more. We go in the middle of winter for a getaway and always have to go before we get to do all there is to do. We started out taking our children when they were small and we continue to go taking their children. We want to soon run out of children so just my wife and I can enjoy it. Salt Fork is our 1st choice when deciding what to do.

We excitedly planned a family getaway to Salt Fork Resort. We booked a cabin. I regret that decision immensely. The cabin was disgusting. The floor in the bathroom was about to fall in due to a leaky shower. The carpet was stained and extremely dirty. The couch was stained and dirty as well. The screened in porch might as well had no screens. Now I know it is a cabin, I understand that but I'm not the Conrad Hotel kind of gal either. I don't expect fancy but I do expect clean! Don't waste your time or money! The indoor pool was dirty as well.
