“Biggest sometimes is better”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

Salt Fork is the largest state park in Ohio. The lodge is nice but is showing a little age and wear, but nothing that should stop a visit. We ordered a pizza from the dining room and for 2 people, it was huge. Well worth the price. All the staff seemed ready to assist with any issues that came up. Our key cards wouldn't work and while the wife was on the way to the front desk, one of the girls taking care of the rooms came by and let me in. She waited for my wife to return to be sure the keys did work. There is also a great golf course, an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts and miles of hiking trails.

So much to do here. Horseback riding, beaches, hiking, picnics, archery, golf, hunting, boating, skiing. The options are endless in a beautiful venue.

“Nice Cabins”
Reviewed April 4, 2014

We stayed two nights in a pet friendly hillside cabin. Cabins are very rustic with wood paneling, nice screened in porch. Two bunk beds in one room and full size bed in other bedroom.
Tableware is for six people. My only complaint is lack of counter space in the bathroom, an additional shelf or credenza would be helpful. Attached is a map of the cabins which I could not find online. The first number is the cabin number, second number is how many steps up or down to the cabin. The park is huge, roads going everywhere. Did lots of hiking but did not see bigfoot. The lodge has a nice gift shop with lots of cool bigfoot items. Fire wood is also sold in the gift shop ($6 a bundle). We ate one night at the restaurant, just had burgers which were very good. Nice game room and fitness room. Did not use the indoor pool but it was heated. The golf course looked VERY challenging, lots of hills.

“Our Tax Dollars in good use”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

It was a beautiful fall day and we decided to take the boat out for awhile. There is a house that can be reached by boat or car, called the Kennedy House and Museum. It overlooks the lake and it's an old stone house with a big oval stone food cellar. You can tour it during certain hours of the year. It was closed the day we were there but we still took pictures and peeked inside the windows. When we took the boat out we drove to the camping area to have a picnic. There are several and if you're staying you need a permit from the office as you're entering the camping site. They have huge shower houses complete with restrooms and washer/dryers and they're clean. We all camping spots have a picnic table, fire ring and electric. We unloaded our gear and prepared to roast our weenies. It was a beautiful day we both really enjoyed. They also have a huge beach area. All very nice.
