You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy this fascinating museum with a lovely collection of historic material and ceremonial items. Exhibitions vary and it is good to check if something new is on display.

A friend took us to see "Spots of Light," an extraordinary exhibit about the art, music and everyday experience of women in the Holocaust.

Multiple screenings of photos and text are presented simultaneously on various walls of the exhibit room. The experience is close to overpowering. One is not dealing with "numbers" or "history." This is a record of individual lives -only some of whom managed to survive the concentration camps.

I hope this exhibit travels through out the country!

There was one section with "artifacts" which was interesting, then a big section of history that was ... ok.. kind of like reading a newspaper though, and the special exhibit was some modern art thing that was kind of bizarre. I'd wait for a more meaning special exhibit next time.

We've been talking about going to this museum and finally made the trip. It was definitely worthwhile. The displays were interesting and well organized, and we really enjoyed it.

I moved to Cleveland about 6 years ago and recently discovered this treasure. I generally love museums, travel regularly both nationally and internationally, and was thoroughly impressed with the collection. If you want to learn about Jewish history or enjoy learning about Jewish culture, this is a must-visit if you are in Cleveland. Even if you are not Jewish, there is so much that is enlightening and moving in this collection (I am not Jewish myself). The layout of the museum is clever, interactive, and modern. The exhibits unfold in a number of unique spaces that give you the feeling of the time period of history of which you are learning (I loved the mini-art-deco theatre and the film about prominent Jewish actors, musicians, and comedians). I spent a few hours here and had to rush through the second half of the main exhibit. I will definitely return!
