“Special ovcasion”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013 via mobile

Our yearly outing with out of town friends. Great food and service. The appetizer menu had great choices. Big enough for a main course for me. The guys always get steaks. They are always excellent. My favorite is the table side Caesar. Being back the fondue!!!!!!

“Nice stop after a long bike ride”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

My husband and I stopped on a Sun. after a bike ride through CVNP. Sat on patio and shared a nice bottle of wine. Ordered truffle fries which were very good but, tuna app. Special should have been a pass. Server was very good.

“Not Worth It”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 6, 2013

The wife and I went here for Valentine's Day, which perhaps was part of the problem, but the food was subpar. I ordered the special, a delmonico, and requested it medium, and it was the driest, toughest steak I've ever eaten. My wife ordered a filet, which similarly was incredibly dry and tough.

I wasn't concerned about the price (which was high, but I expected that coming in), but I've had far better steaks at the chain steak joints (Outback, Longhorn, etc.), not to mention making them myself. The atmosphere was nice - though it was busy, it was very quiet, and the fireplaces were a nice touch, but when you find yourself wishing for a bottle of steak sauce to help get it down your gullet (a criminal offense to do that to a good steak), you know the food isn't very good.

“Tell Me the Price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2013

We eat here maybe a couple of times a year; special occasions and such. Very pricey, but food and service always excellent. My main complaint is that the server never reveals the price of their specials or apps unless you ask, as though if you have to ask you shouldn't be there. I resent that attitude by the management. Be ready to spend up to $200 per couple for an average order of apps/specials plus one bottle of Ken Stewarts wine (the cheapest on the wine list). Ambiance, as the name implies, is 'lodgy' with several separate rooms and a couple of fireplaces going. This rating is less than my last one only because of the pricing issue.
