Stanley has very limited options for hotels. Mircotel maximizes this leverage with charging $189 per night for a standard room. The hotel itself is new and clean and maintained well, however my room smelt like wet stinky shoes; my guess this is the left over odor from the gentleman that have been occupying the room prior to my arrival. I understand that many of the oil field workers stay in local hotels until permanent housing can be arranged. On a positive note they do offer hot breakfast items in the morning as well as soup each night for a dinner option.

Tacky furnishings. Uncomfortable beds. Unetible breakfast. Weak coffee. Powdered creamer!
Really...the sheets were synthetic material, the pillows plastic filled. Synthetic sweaty blankets.
Substandard thruout!

Room was the smallest I have ever stayed in and more expensive than the nicest room I have stayed in. We expected high rates due to the oil patch, but didn't expect such a small room. Room was neat and clean. Shower was very good. Air conditioning was uncomfortable due to being so close to the unit. Breakfast was about average. Desk and maids were very pleasant and made you feel comfortable.

Outward appearances are great and per company standards, the staff are courteous and attractive, the rooms look up to date. Cleanliness was average; my bed pillows had dust and hair on them. Worst, however, is that the walls are paper thin! Shame on the developer of this building to cut such corners while taking advantage of the oil boom.

The hotel fills up with construction and oil workers. Some have early nights and early mornings, but random people seem content to blare their TV or music very late at night. It appears that many people end up staying here for very long periods of time (weeks, months?) You can hear conversations from people next door to you as well as in the room below or above you. When someone has the TV on you might as well go sit in their room and join them, because you will only just hear that unless you turn your own up even louder. And the hallway noise sounds like your door is just open (despite it being closed). If you are a light sleeper, do NOT stay here without a healthy supply of ear plugs. Also, shame on the front desk for not keeping a complementary supply of them since they have to be aware of such thin walls and poor insulation from room to room.

Finally, the price. Two hundred dollars? Gotta love the oil-boom gouging... I will only come back for business needs, whereas there is not a lot of other options in this region.

Room Tip: Request the top floor, as far away from the concession machines/elevator as possible.
