“Un-Happy Dinning Experience”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

It may have a lovely view, but unfortunately that does not make up for a terrible service.
Came in for a quick lunch and was treated horribly by un-attentive waitresses, who seemed quite distracted which was curious as we were the ONLY customers in there.
It took 30 minutes for our coffees to arrive in which time, we decided that we would not have lunch as we could no longer put up with waitresses snide looks & lack of interest in us as patrons.

“New Year disappointment”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

A large group of us were booked in for new Years Eve. "Eat at Whalers" has to have the best view along this coast line, it's a pity "Eat" couldn't reciprocate. In a venue like this, not to put on a star event is a real shame.
Firstly the restaurant was under staffed, the staff were raced off their feet to try and keep up and tried hard to provide a good food service. (There was no drink service on the night.) They really struggled to clear the tables of bottles and used glasses.
We ate from a five course set menu. Food was brought out promptly and was of a good standard, however the chef made a dreadful mistake with the main course. Where he/she got the idea of shared rib eye steak from, we have no idea. Each couple had to squeeze the main dish between our plates and try and divide up the food. There just wasn't the room to do this on the table.
There was some entertainment provided. We enjoyed the jazz musicians at least they had a bit of fun and could put a tune together. Then came a solo singer/keyboard player! Well, it could have been a great night! Many party goers were ready to dance the night away but that was not to be.
We paid a premium price for this evening and were very disappointed. There was no attempt made to give the night atmosphere, surely the management could have make an effort?
We would have left early, as many people did, but Victor Harbor has a great fireworks display that we hung around for. Whalers has a great vantage point for viewing this.

Thanks to the staff who did their best, especially the waitress with the crazy headband, everyone should have had one. Book a decent band or DJ, give the place some atmosphere, provide enough staff and we are sure you could have had us return.
This place could have been rocking all night long!

HiKazzahx,

Thank you for your review.
We shall take all your points onboard.
We have repeat bookings for this New Year based on that nights performance, so we can only improve.
All the best for the New Year to you and may the rest be brighter.

Cheers,

Tenney

“What a Treat”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

First of all we went on a Friday evening for the happy hour. A prescribed list of drinks are within the offer but of course you can have others. It was a well attended classy event. The free canapés were superb. We so enjoyed it that we reserved a table for the following evening. Dinner was very good with a limited menu which us reassuring. Food was well presented, generous in quantity and excellent to taste. Service was professional and friendly. The added extra is the location. This is a must.

“Staff friendly but service was slow”
Reviewed December 30, 2013 via mobile

I stayed at the bluff apartments and on recommendation came in for breakfast. I must admit it was fairly busy and can't help wonder if they were understaffed the day we came in. It was awkward waiting to be seated, once we got some attention we were waved away to choose our own seat. Service was just very slow, half an hour before we had our order taken and 45 minutes until our overpriced and undersized coffees came out. When our food arrived another half hour after ordering it was..ok. I felt the staff were in a hurry & avoided eye contact, hurrying passed so we wouldn't bother them for the bill, which I had to wait 15 minutes to pay. I'd give this place another go as I feel if they had more staff it may have been more pleasant, I guess it just wasn't our day or theirs by the stressed looks in their faces!

“Sunday lunch with friends”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

We were booked into an outside table with a great view of encounter bay. Waiting staff were attentive and helpful, meals were scrumptious and beautifully presented.
We have recently moved into Victor and will proudly call this our local.
A great experience for our guests.
