Our day traveling from Adelaide to Victor Harbor with family living in Adelaide was full of history and more outstanding vistas. We have for years heard about family vacations at Victor Harbor. Finally seeing this countryside and little seaside towns gave us an appreciation for all that this area of South Australia has to offer. We had to take the horse drawn tram out to granite island. Our horse's name was Thomas, just like my husband, and we decided they also shared similar personalities. Fun pictures of the two of them. Granite Island was worth exploring. We did not see the world's smallest penguins that nest in the crevices of the granite but learned about their life cycle and habitation needs. The crashing surf against the rocks impressed upon us the destructive power of Mother Nature. Fierce, Beautiful. It was a very warm (hot) day and the wind increased and temperature dropped measurably out on the island. There is a causeway going out to the island for walkers, bicyclers, and the horse drawn tram. There are other attractions like miniature golf and amusement rides. We stopped for an ice cream before continuing our drive around the Southern Ocean Coastline. A beautiful day trip from Adelaide. Don't forget your camera, hats and sunscreen.
