“Fine for a stop over”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

We headed to the tourist informant centre who recommended this hotel. By booking through them they take a 10% cut of the price. Always nice to support the tourist info place & they got the price knocked down by $20.
So value for money is good. Room was clean and tidy albeit dated which is to be expected for the age of the property. Our room had a view of the water which was nice and access to a balcony. Yucky cigarette butts left in ash tray on table though. Second room contained a single bed, bar fridge and tea/coffee facilities. Because this room has no natural light a more substantial light would be handy. No built in aircon or heating however portable heaters supplied which worked a treat.
Bathroom was small but usable. Unfortunately they had forgotten to replenish the soaps etc so we used some we had brought along. Could have asked at front desk, I'm sure they would have happily fixed issue.
The hotel had two lovely sitting rooms that could be used by guests which looked well kept & inviting.
We ate at the restaurant for dinner and service was quick and pleasant. We felt that the cost was fairly high for the quality.

Room Tip: Best to choose a downstairs room if your traveling with a child.

Thank you for your detailed comments. We are glad you had a pleasant experience with us. The heritage building does have a certain charm to it and the location couldn't be better on the seafront.

I like the hotel, the beach front view is great and friendly staff, good food if a bit expensive. Rooms are clean and it's a great place to relax for few days. I went there to find some peace of mind and it was great that I found a good friend there . No wireless last time I went but a couple of computers for general use. A very nice restaurant with outside benches

We have just returned from an outstanding holiday. We have stayed here many times and it never disappoints
. Friendly Staff, perfect location, just love the Spa rooms. We eat at the restaurant most nights as it is the best in Victor.
We recommend the Anchorage yo all our friends and have already booked for next holidays.

My parents paid for my partner and me to stay 2 nights so I am not sure how much it cost them. We had a spa room with a little balcony. The position and views are great. The hotel is in walking distance of everything so we hardly got the car out. The room itself is not amazing but it is quite nice and it has an awesome spa bath.
The only negative; which was minor was that the cleaners missed a few tiny things. I am quite fussy with cleaning though. There was chocolate wrappers left in the top drawer of the bedside table and I found 2 hairs in the bed when I pulled the covers back (this is before we got in the bed) and a stain on the sheet. I didn't say anything because everything else was really clean and I wasn't too put off anyway.
The restaurant down stairs is amazing! I really liked the food and the staff. My partner enjoys a good coffee and he really loved their coffee. I think they have even won awards for their coffee.
I would definitely go back because the positives far out way the negatives. Overall I really enjoyed my stay. I found it very relaxing! Thank you to the staff!

Room Tip: Our room had easy access to the back car park. We just walked up the back stairs, went through the d...

Nicely appointed and clean room overall. A bit shocked to find there was no air-conditioning (at all) in our room on what was a very hot and humid day, but survived with the supplied fan. Considering no air con the 'special rate' was not at all special - the room was hot and uncomfortable and we had to leave the fan on and the verandah doors open all night to sleep at all. Didn't feel secure! Definitely would have stayed elsewhere had I known. On a more positive note the location was perfect, the night lawn bowls across the road made for built-in entertainment, and the meal from the restaurant was pretty good. Felt really welcomed by the staff, including the restaurant and bar crew. If you like to sleep in, the pre 8am setup of tables and chairs at the cafe will probably disturb you, as will the night time pack up and departure of punters from the cafe/bar late in the evenings. Glad to have stayed mid-week when it was fairly quiet. All in all a grand old hotel, and a pleasant (but hot) stay. Would only recommend this to others if air-con is available. Wifi would improve the experience.

Room Tip: Check that your room has air conditioning if you value comfort.

Enjoyed the location as well as the heritage of the building. Staff very friendly and helpful. Not only did we have great view of the ocean from the balcony but able to watch an evening game of lawn bowls across the road

This was our third stay at the Anchorage and once again we found it a great place to stay in Victor. We stayed in the spa room, the excellent air conditioning was much appreciated as it was a very humid and hot night. The bed is very comfortable, the room quiet and everything clean and well-thought out. Check-in and check out was efficient yet very friendly with good information. We had a delicious evening tapas meal with a large group of friends at tables on the front verandah - all the food was flavoursome, fresh and only a very short wait, very reasonably priced. Breakfast the next day in the restaurant out the back was also delicious and quick. Great coffee! We went for an early morning walk out to Granite island and saw a pod of dolphins swimming close to the jetty on a beautiful still morning. A lovely place to stay.

Room Tip: Spa rooms are spacious with a verandah and a view of the harbour.
