Brilliant hostel. Came down from Adelaide with mates for a quiet couple of days. There are really nice beaches nearby. We had a great days surfing. The hostel is what you would expect from a yha. Really clean and well kitted out. You can even take herbs/vegetables from the garden. There is a nice big patio area out the back which gets the sun. The chap who works there (ray) is a really friendly bloke. He even gave us a lift to town to get surfboards! Only two bad things. The floors are wooden so the place is really really noisy. Also no door between lounge/tv area - this is a pain again because of the noise. I think they are planning on doing something about this.
Apart from that perfect.
It was my first time staying in an YHA so was a little apprehensive of what it would be like. Oh my god what I surprise I got….this place was fantastic and was more like a family beach house than an YHA, for a great price to! It’s very spacious with an art deco feel about it, and plenty of room to chill out. With having kids with us the TV/play room was good for them, with the older kids being able to catch up on their face book via access to the internet. The other great thing about this place is the wonderful view of the beach which is just across the road. We have already booked to go back next year when we go back to Adelaide!
We were fortunate to be some of the first guests to stay at the new YHA and had a fantastic time. Brilliant location, awesome views and such a funky and stylish interior...better than most beach houses you could rent in the area at affordable YHA rates. Friends with us from the UK just loved it...relaxed and easy with friendly hosts too.
