“Fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

We are writing this as we sit in the restaurant. A bit antisocial perhaps but we just wanted to share our experience. Our comments....divine views of mclaren vale, fantastic wine menu with all wines by the glass, food presents and tastes as great as it reads and service is as good as we have had - friendly, enthusiastic, informed and genuine. Absolute recommendation from us.

“Not bad wine, either!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

If you visit Adelaide, you must do yourself a favour and enjoy a trip to McLaren Vale, the famous wine producing area. It's a 45 minutes south of the city and a delightful area. It is home to a favourite wine of mine, D'Arenberg's "Money Spider". Next to the tasting room is an excellent, award winning restaurant. The menu is innovative, appealing and reasonably priced. There are four flights of their wines to chose from, as well as the full range of their wines by bottle. The terrace has a great vista and its a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

“Birthday treat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

We enjoyed my birthday at this winery just outside the main town of McLaren Vale. The service was friendly, efficient and helpful both in the restaurant and the cellar door and the views were lovely despite a dull and overcast day. The food was excellent, the lobster raviolo and blue swimmer crab starter really nice and my my wife loved the pakoras. I had duck as a main and that was delicious though my wife was dissapointed by the chicken and I agreed, though I seldom choose chicken in restaurants! The wine of course was matched well and overall it was a very good experience.

“OMG - this lunch made our trip!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

If you are a "foodie", this is the way to experience McLaren food and wine pairing at its best. First off, the view from the terrace is delightful, the service is very good and the pace at which the food and wines come out are a welcomed change from the usual eat the entrée, eat the main and leave attitude of many places we went prior. We even asked for more wine and they did not hesitate to pour free of charge. What a grand experience it was!

“Superb Australian Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2013

Last Sunday we enjoyed a late lunch here after wine-tasting at the adjacent cellar door the previous Sunday. We found the food, service and atmosphere most excellent. Entree was a shared affair of dukkah with bread, olive oil and marinated olives, and hot stuffed spanish queen olives with lime aioli, which was a twin delight.

My main of confit duck leg & seared duck breast was tender without being chewy with perfectly balanced flavours, and was complemented very well by a d'Arenberg Grenache, whilst my two friends were equally pleased with their fillet steak.

Arrival of both entrees and mains was timely and the service and attentiveness of restaurant staff and manager was first class. The atmosphere of the restaurant was busy without being frenetic, but not too noisy to carry on normal conversation. Thank you d'Arry's for a beautiful lunch.
