For the price, we couldn't fault this motel style accomodation. The kitchenette is useful for pulling together a breakfast or lunch and the fridge is handy. Rooms are large, if a little dated in decor (except for 32" LCD). Restaurant nice. Nice grounds and a great walking track alongside the hotel that goes all around the area and past vineyards, worth packing your trainers if the weather is good. Location is very central, 5 min drive to McLaren Vale village (where everything shuts at 5.30pm by the way, even Coles, be prepared). Visit Primo Estate winery and do their premium wine and cheese tasting for $15, bargain and wonderful! Visit Coriole for an amazing local produce tasting plate for two (or more..) packed with cheese, local made charchuterie, olives, fresh breads and kangaroo - highlight of the trip. Rolling hills of McLaren Vale a real surprising treat. This hotel is bang in the middle, and good value for money - just don't expect too many frills.

We only visited the restaurant here, although the grounds looked very nice. The food at the restaurant was delicious. The service was very prompt and we found it to be a relatively quiet restaurant good for a romantic dinner (i.e. you didn't have to shout to be heard). The mains were nice, particularly the beef fillet, but it was the chocolate brownie dessert that won me over - yum! My only advice would be not to sit near the entrance to the restaurant as you get a cold breeze everytime someone opens the outside door to reception, though this didn't happen often.

Recently stayed overnight to celebrate my birthday with a few close friends.. I booked 5 rooms for us 5 couples. We had a wonderful enjoyable and relaxing stay.. the surroundings were beautiful and serene... pool was a great hit with all of us not wanting to get out!! Dinner was absolutely delish!!! All 10 of us really enjoyed our entree & mains! Cellar doors next door which helped pick out wines to try at dinner during our wine tasting. The next morning we finished of our stay with a cooked breakfast in the restaurant.. We are all talking about coming back in a year! ps...You will need to keep room door closed, as there are plenty of bugs out in the country!

Really nice hotel and gorgeous location. Lovely friendly staff. Pleasant breakfast hamper was delivered to our room. The restaurant was beautiful and the meal delicious, my other half will describe it as the best meal he has ever had.

One serious problem with this hotel is that on arrival they put a form in front of you and ask you to write down your credit card details with the expiry date. If you protest there is then a problem as they won't let you check in without writing down what they want. Such extortion was completely disagreeable to us. They have no secure connection to take encrypted credit card details and this is at 5th September 2010.

The rooms are plain, spacious, clean and comfortable. There is nothing to get overly excited about though!

Don't bother with the TV as its a joke - a tiny old fashioned TV. My computer screen is larger!

There is no minibar and the little fridge only contains milk. Modest tea and coffee provisions without biscuits and small long life milk capsules are provided along with an extremely dirty kettle to boil water. There are wine and bubbly glasses kept in the room along with 3 teacups and saucers.

The bed was a king sized bed, extremely bouncy and had what appeared to be a loose polyester overlay to try to soften it. The pillows are budget examples and resemble squashed pancakes - good for an ear ache.

There is a small corner spa bath which is noisy - ie. you won't be able to hear the TV whilst its running. The shower is on the larger side and has a fixed shower head.

There is a swimming pool and it would be inviting in summer as it looked quite nice for a rectangular pool.

The restaurant however is fabulous. The food 10/10 and the service 9/10. There were occasions (more than once) when I had to pour my own drink which for the level of pricing and location of this restaurant was not up to standard. The restaurant decor is fairly new and contemporary and quite smart in a very simple minimalist style. The food menu is small with only a few dishes and absolutely no vegetarian dishes so if you are a vegan or vegetarian you will have a problem. I had the calamari which was tasty, tender and very good. The prosciutto wrapped chicken to follow was superb. Italian cassatta icecream for dessert was also delicious. The coffee was very good too.

Reception in not 24 hours and opens at 7.30am.

I wouldn't rave over the accommodation but the dining is good. My advice is to stay at a holiday cottage or B&B instead.
