“Superb little hidden gem in the Southern Vales”
Reviewed May 15, 2012

What a refreshing suprise we had at this restaurant this month. We were greeted by excellent hosts (whom run the Kitchen door) and they delivered great, genuine and professional service with a few laughs in between on the table overlooking the vines. The menu is very local orientated and deliveres some of South Australias best produce. The food was superb. Great balance of flavours, textures and skills. They say they aren't fine dining..... they are understating themselves. The dishes were brillant. We had the vittelo tonnato and an exceelent grilled octopus. The main was very clever with the chicken breast sandwiched with truffle paste and silky smooth onion puree, pearl barley, chicken leg & tarragon wram salad. Very tasty dish.
They offer Local wines with a splash of some others and you can get sample tastings at your table. Definitely will return!!
Worth a stop if you in Southern Vales.

“Great food & wine in lovely surroundings”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

The restaurant/cellar door itself is a modern corrugated iron building added on to the rear of the stone building at the entrance of the property. They had other buildings on the property which I thought would have been ideal for the restaurant but they may have had restrictions on what they could do with those buildings, I guess..Having said that, the restaurant was lovely and the view from the restaurant of fields and wooden fences with iron gates and the odd sheep wandering around was gorgeous.
There was a tasting/degustation menu on offer but we chose to go with the a la carte menu. I chose the crusted pork fillet ($32 - I think?)served with red cabbage and it was delicious! My husband chose the prawns with smoked caviar. We had a side of potatoes with roasted capsicum sauce and washed it down with a 2010 Mr Riggs Shiraz (we bought another bottle at the cellar door) - very nice.We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food and wine - a lovely little restaurant!

“Lovely relaxed meal”
Reviewed January 13, 2012

Relaxed dining in a beautiful setting. Lovely wines too.

The menu is short and what I had was well executed and very tasty. Service was casual but generally very on the ball. Considering how much we had to eat (& drink) I thought it was pretty reasonably priced too. We had 3 courses pp and quite a lot of wine and it was just under $100 a head.

“The best meal I've had in years.”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

Sit back and get ready to be taken on a masterpiece food experience. Every dish on the 4 course digestation menu was outstanding and, considering the high quality and quantity of food, the value for money was excellect. The staff were especially friendly & warm, making intelligent conversation & taking an interest in us. Our waitress also offered us samples of other wines at no extra charge when ours ran out. The good aspect of our table looked straight out over the vines and we watched livestock peacefully graze whilst eating our piping hot freshly baked bread rolls! Everything about this meal was truly wonderful. Do yourself a favour and go!
