Does what it says on the tin!

Clean, comfortable but basic. The only bonus was the charming Receptionist, Bernadette. She was welcoming and informative.

WiFi very expensive - $25 for 5 hours was the best offer! Bed comfortable; lots of hot water and toilet paper in shower room but only one little bar of soap and a shower cup. Fridge was good and cold in our room and we were given fresh milk when we arrived. This was a nice touch. Tea bags don't make nice tea although coffee was good. Just before we left we discovered a box of tissues and a can of fly spray in the bottom of the wardrobe which we appreciated.

We booked a river view and there it was, across the road, over the roofs of all the chalets - beautiful, as far as we could see. Because the Motel is not exactly on the river, this might have influenced our choice if we had known in advance. Lots of stations on the TV but just like in Ireland, many repeats and lots of rubbish.

Menu for restaurant was surprisingly comprehensive although we didn't partake as we walked up the town for a drink and a better river view and ended up eating at the Pretoria Hotel, right beside the river.

If you are looking for a quiet stay, do as we did, come off-season. Price won't be cheap, but you'll get lots of quiet - we walked along the Main Street at 20.00 and you could count the no of people in all the bars and restaurants on your fingers. Mannum isn't a late night hotspot in April apparently!

It was a pleasant overnight stop. But I couldn't imagine coming back again.

Room Tip: The river view room is not worth the extra charged.

We really enjoyed our stay, had a great package deal which included 2 nights accommodation, breakfast daily, 2 for 1 dinner and 2 for 1 coffee. The room had a beautiful view of the river, absolutely superb breakfasts, (one of the best we've had and we've had a few) and the dinner was excellent. Our room was very good, just the bathroom was a bit tired. The pool area was not in use so not sure if they are renovating. Staff friendly, loved Mannum so we will definitely return for another great value short holiday. A well managed business.

Appreciate the review - thank you!!

Great to hear that the package was enjoyed - always hard to know what to include!

Would love to able to say the pool is getting renovated, unfortunately - it's mainly repairs!!! first the filter, once that was fixed the pump couldn't cope............... It's all back and running now though!

Please make sure you do make your selves know to us when you do return - always prefer to give a personal thanks!

This is our favourite place to stay in Mannum. Not only are the owners (as well as their dog Nero) and staff very friendly, the food in the cafe is superb! (NB if you enjoy the local river scenery, check out the photos and artwork on the cafe walls.)

My most favourite room is the Riverview Room as it has great river views and comfy beds!

All is always clean and tidy. I noticed quite a lot of new furnishings which is always good to see and a sign that the owners are continually looking to keep things updated.

Breakfast at the cafe is always wonderful. We enjoyed quite a few lunches and dinners there as well (as well as a glass or two of wine of course). On the nice days we opted for a table outside and watched the river traffic go by.

Looking forward to our next stay!

Room Tip: Try the Riverview Rooms for a fantastic view and great beds!

Thank you for the positive feedback - while we aren't a five star property, we do aim to make the experience as friendly and enjoyable as possible.

Pleased to hear the efforts of putting the whole package ( including wine and Nero) has made you enjoy Mannum even more and do look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We made the mistake of staying here whilst we were touring the Murray River area.
The motel was modern in the 70's but nothing has been done to it since. Whilst looking for a plug for the mobile found a pile of dead critters (looked like millipedes) which had been there for some time.
Complained to the reception and were told "Welcome to Australia" !! To make it worse they didn't even clean them up that day or even at all !!

If you are thinking about staying here, take a few moments out to clear you head and drive on.
If you need to stay in Mannum, try the caravan site across the road, they looked to have some good cabins.

Oh nearly forgot about the Swimming Pool - They advertise a swimming pool which we were keen to try out because the temperature was in the 30's but when we found it, the water was green; stagnant and full of leaves. It obviously hadn't been clean this year, or maybe even last year!

Perhaps they are trying to attract even more insects or even snakes into the rooms !

Room Tip: Don't think you will find a good room here unless you like the worn out 70's look !!!

It is disappointing to read a report like this, at this stage I haven't heard of any concerns raised, but also haven't been into the office yet either.

The pool unfortunately is out of action until a new pump arrives- in hind sight the gate should have been locked but that then stops access to the BBQ and tennis area.

Millipedes are a problem during certain times of the year - but the response and lack of action is extremely disappointing to hear - this will be followed up.

While I am unsure of what room you may of had, all rooms in the last few years have had a reasonable amount of upgrading done - carpets, curtains, queen/king beds, soft furnishings, fridges and flat screen Tvs , we acknowledge there still is work to be done on some rooms, I do find it disappointing that all 27 units get "tarred with same brush" on the experience of one type of room - but that is human nature - I would probably think the same.

We do appreciate you taking the time to bring things to our attention - this is our peak time (hence the slightly higher rates) and we do get caught up in everyday running of the motel/cafe and forget to make our guests aware of simple problems such as the pool closed due to a break down. I assure you we will be looking hard into your comments.

We used 'The Barn' conference facilities for a quilting retreat, with accommodation at the Mannum Motel in August. The Barn has excellent light, kitchen & toilet facilities. (although some parts of wall surface is visibly not in the best condition, it was fine for our purpose) Friday night dinner at the Petoria Hotel was great - short walk and one of our ladies won 2 prizes in the raffle - both useful a chicken and a cheese platter! Had a pint & Parmi special for $15.
Some of the ladies rode across on the ferry to look at the lights and holiday homes.
Saturday dinner was at the Motel. What friendly staff and good food. Our room had a double bed and a divider to another 'room' with 2 singles and a pull out. All facilities for cooking in the kitchenette, small milk supplied, hairdryer, ironing board, ensuite bathroom and daily service etc. Although we did not use the cafe for breakfast it was well patronised on Sunday morning and the room service breakfast menu was extensive. There is a swimming pool - but not quite warm enough for us in August! Highly recommend.

Room Tip: No 18 had a pleasant outlook but also overlooked the Barn roof, I believe No 16 had a nice view of t...

although we have stayed in the mannum motel on a number of occasions and have been quite happy with the plain but dated styling. The rooms are clean and service is fine, but even though we are all doing our bit for the environment, a four minutes of warm water in the shower is totally unacceptable on a cold winters morning when we have paid that amount of money for a room. on this last outing when we were bombarded by a hoarde of drunks from an evening in the dining room at 3 am and although we politely asked management to help us quieten things down we were forced to call management again and other hotel users called the police. We would not stay again more for the cold shower than anything else

Thanks for letting us know about the hot water - every room has its own unit and will get it checked out.

The drunks.... Unfortunately after they left our dining room they then went on a pub crawl and then returned to the motel - our night manager on duty that night did go to them on numerous occasions and then spoke to the police about them?

Not sure how much more we could have done - 13 years we have been here and never had to call the police in that time.

We knew that this motel is 3 1/2 stars, this the third time that we have stayed here since 2006. Yes the bathroom in the standard room is small and dated but impressively clean. Our room was spacious and very clean and quite comfortable.
The only downside is that from the bed we needed binoculars to see the distantly placed old type small screen TV.

Room Tip: For the price we paid the standard room was very good.
