We are locals and love, love, love this place. The food is fresh, consistently delicious, and reasonably priced. The salt and pepper squid is to die for - tender, served with a delicious salad and just the right size for lunch. Good wine list with the Bremmerton Sav Blanc a perfect match for the squid. There's other seafood, local Coorong mullet and cockles as well as great salads, baguettes and various specials of the day. Delicious fresh cakes and coffee finish off your meal if you have any room left!
If you've not been here before, Cafe Bombora sits at one end of the Goolwa Beach car park, amongst the sand and sea. It's very casual (used to be the beach kiosk) has an enclosed verandah with cafe blinds protecting you from inclement weather and they even provide fleecy wraps to keep you warm on those cool Goolwa days. There are outside tables too, for people who pop in and out all day for coffee and cake.
Opening hours are limited after the summer months end, and it generally only opens for breakfast and lunch. If you're thinking about heading down to Bomboras for a meal, ring first ....... Just in case! The only problem, it's become so popular that we locals can't expect to just roll up and get a table.
