Lovely hostel with lovely and very helpful staff. There is a lot to see and do around here, visit the beautiful crater lakes, the waterfalls and the rainforest... It's just drop dead gorgeous! We went night canoeing which you can do for an extra 40 dollars, and we got to see tree kangaroos, a platypus and possums. Don't miss it if you come here!

My favourite place to go in FNQ! Close to all the lakes, waterfalls, trails and activities. Next to the village but feels like you're away from it all. Great facilities and amazing staff! Tracy, David and Kim look after you so well. Such a perfect place for a relaxing retreat and/or active outing.
Thanks again OTW for another fantastic little holiday!

Lovely little cottage styled hostel. Clean & extremely quiet. Silence/quietness/peace is something very valuable to someone who lives in one of the most densely populated countries in the world. All the staff were lovely & i enjoyed my quiet morning walk along Petersons Creek and I completed the journey till Frawleys Pool and Railway. Enjoyed the sight spotting about nature (playtpus, fruit pigeon, bush turkey or crossawary, trees etc..) and wildlife along the walk. The local community took effort to plan and maintain the walking path and made it enjoyable and safe too. You can also do night canoeing at a nominal fee with a guide, free nightly platypus spotting or join a tour for the waterfalls circuit and visit the majestic giant curtain fig tree.

On the Wallaby would also be the reccomended place to stay as it is truly affordable, charming and clean too! Clean bathrooms as well. Has a mattress protector and firm mattress to ensure a good rest. I was in Kookaburra when I was there on 10th-12th Feb 2013. :)

Great service - Kim was excellent, really friendly and helpful.
Brekky is available for an extra $5, great value.
Free platypus spotting walks a real bonus too!
Highly recommended - comfy beds, clean facilities, great location, loads to do, fab kitchen and communal areas - all round brilliant little hostel, one of the best I have ever stayed in.
