Staff and friendly and helpful, rates are cheap and the hostel is quiet and very clean. They provided loads of suggestions about the local area and made a great, cheap dinner for both nights I stayed there. They have a fun platypus cushion to sit on around the stove when the night gets cold and drink and chat. If I was coming back to Queensland, I'd stay here again for sure.

Room Tip: Really cheap camping - $10 for a powered site if you have a van!

Although I did not spend the night at the lodge, I did take the tour of Atherton Tablelands run by Bart and also made a short stop at the lodge for tea.

Its a nice little place, really quiet and you get nature right at your door step. I wish I had the time to spend a night there but I had other tours booked prior to arriving here.

I must say that it was a most pleasurable tour and being the very first tour of my trip, he set the bar pretty high for other guides later!

We stayed in a double room for 2 nights. The staff was very friendly and helpfull, they pointed out the good locations for spotting platypus and things to do in the area. The bbq they offered was average, the second night we choose to cook our own meal. Kitchen and bathrooms are very clean. It's just a little bit inconvenient that all the bathrooms are downstairs and most bedrooms are upstairs. Very good value for money.

Found this hostel online and it was great. Very friendly staff, nice decor, clean, and quiet. There is lots to do at the hostel itself. They offered a BBQ at a small cost which was nice aswell. You can also book tours with the hostel itself if you wish. We stayed the night in a double room and it was great. This hostel is however very environmentally friendly therefore there is no TV and not a lot of outlets around. Also only one computer for internet. The staff made you feel like family and the wood stove was a nice touch in the common room. I give it a 4.2 out of 5. Not to be technical.

This bright-green hostel was hands down my favorite hostel I stayed at during my time in Cairns. The staff is great, the place has a lot of character, and the whole downstairs level is pretty much open to the elements. They have a big yard with picnic tables, hammock swings, a pool table, and a bunch of games you can play, and they offer an Australian barbeque at night (and they'll cook you up a veggie burger if you're vegetarian). They can help you find the quirky little platypus that lives in Yungaburra, and they offer a couple of tours (I highly recommend the night canoeing - we saw a tree kangaroo!). I would recommend this place to anyone!

I would absolutely recommend staying here and taking some of the tours they offer to see wildlife. The staff are really cool and keen to share their local knowledge. The lodgings are comfy and Yungaburra is a beautiful village to be in. Get up early and see the platypus down under the bridge nearby! A really good memory. Doors to rooms aren't secured but there is a safe on offer to use. I hope to stay here again.
