“Excellant Value for Money - 2 night stay”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

Thank you very muck Rick & Maxine. The cottage was very homely and comfortable for us. The breakfast hamper was a real bonus. Both of the kids loved it and so did my husband and I. We didn't hear much noise at all from our cottage and it was great and cosy. We all had a fantastic 2 night stay there. The Rocks Restuarant has lovely food as well.

We will be back :)

If you want a weekend in the country this place isn't for you! It is right behind the McDonald's and a petrol station. With just a fence separating them!
There was some kind of sewerage outlet right out the front of our room and it stunk. They had put an air freshener on the grass near it but that didn't help at all. I was expecting the hosts to be lovely, as all the other reviews had suggested but found them really rude, especially when the man made fun of us for needing an extra fire lighter!
Make sure you wash up as we noticed there was a $20 fee if you didn't.
After paying $210 a night I would have thought a few dishes wouldn't have been too much of a problem.
We will definitely not be going back there!!

From the moment we arrived we were treated to first class care and concern. We arrived too late to join the bus tour of the wineries so Rick phoned the manager of Filippo's Tours (first class!) and he drove over himself and took us around personally on a halfday trip around the local vineyards. The tour was informative, professional and highly entertaining. A great start.

While we were away, Rick and Maxine set up the fire for us and had it lit and toasty warm by the time we got back.

The cottages were perfectly clean and beautifully presented in old school country decor. The one bedroom spa cottage was huge - with a big living area and well provisioned kitchen, comfy queen sized bed and affordable, well-stocked bar fridge. The spa bathroom was spacious and clean with an abundance of hot water - perfect after an evening out in the chilly Stanthorpe winter air! Only recommendation is that the towels were quite thin (though clearly well washed) and a couple of spare ones (for drying hair?) would have been welcomed.

We ate dinner at The Rocks which was nicely established amid the cottages and warmly lit against the cold night. The menu was fairly well priced, though perhaps resultant meal didn't match the description? More simple, affordable options would, of course, have been appreciated alongside the "gourmet" dishes.

The cottages on the estate are well spaced and private, you'd never even know you were right near a main road! Furthermore, our cottage was so warm despite the night dropping below freezing and we really appreciated the well stocked fireplace.

Our breakfast basket was a really lovely touch. Beautifully provincial and fresh. All sorts of dietary options are available on request. In fact, it's a good idea to ring ahead the minute you book to check what sorts of activities you might like to take part in - especially if you want to do a wine tour or don't want to drive yourself around the region. Rick and Maxine were more than willing to talk us through the options.

A lovely night's stay.

Reasonable accommodation but for the price the furnishings are looking a little tired. We were also only given 2 towels which didn't quite dry properly for the second days use. Fresh towels would have improved the quality of the stay.
I'm not sure if I would stay here again as it was little out of town and we had to drive to have dinner. Although there is a restaurant in the complex it is over priced.

Thank you for such a wonderful weekend, the Studio Spa Cottage was delightful and thank you ever so much for helping make the day I proposed to my soulmate by helping organise the in room surprise on our return from a day out. Dedication to provide a wonderful experience from Rick and Maxine was so much appreciated, purchasing flowers and chmpagne for us and such a wonderful arrangement with homemade chocolates and cheese platter was the perfect touch at the end of the day.... We couldn't recommend Honeysuckle Cottages more highly !!!

Room Tip: Studio Spa room is absolutely perfect... especially during Brass Monkey season !!!

4 of us stayed at the Cottages for 2 nights, in a 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom cottage. That was great as we could all sit in the lounge by the fire all together.

Rick and Maxine are very helpful and hospitable.

Each cottage is separate, in a bushland setting, and we heard no noise from any traffic or the nearby Macca's. We could have been kms from anywhere, which we think is one of the attractions of Honeysuckle Cottages. Honeysuckle Cottages are approximately 3kms from the city centre, but within easy walking distance to Macca's. Our cottage was clean with all facilities functioning.

The fire was ready to go when we moved in and only needed a match. The breakfast basket provided more than enough eggs, bacon, sausages and bread for our 2 days stay; and there was ample coffee and tea. The cottages have TV, CD and DVD, and stocked minibar. There is an onsite restaurant.

Yes, we would all happily return and recommend.

We, David,Barbara and friend Jennifer, recently visit stanthorpe. We chose to stay at the Honeysuckle Cottages. We were plesantly surprised at how comfortable and well presented the cottages were The wood fire place was warm and cosy day and night, even with the freezing outside temps. The breakfast basket supplied was full of all the goods required. And some left over(eggs, bacon, sausages, bread, butter, fruit juice, jams and spreads). The bus tour we booked through the reception was very enjoyable and will be remembered for a long time. We would recommend the Honeysuckle cottages to everyone. Go meet the happy friendly owners and have an enjoyable holiday. And thank you for a top place to stay.David, Barbara,Jennifer
