I took a group of Seniors up to Happy Valley for the Australia Day Weekend. We had a fabulous time.
We ended up having to stay an extra two nights as we were unable to return to Brisbane due to roads closures caused by the flooding and storms.
Dee and Geoff went out of their way to accommodate us and we were all very grateful for their hopitality and very generous discount due to our situation.
The staff were all wonderful and the food and cabins were great.
They were helpful and assisted the group with golf cart transfers from the cabins to the restaurant and back.
It rained the entire time we were there but it was still a nice weekend away.

We loved having you all stay with us!
After 5 nights, you were like family and it was sad to see you leave.
We are glad we could help make a difficult situation better.
Please tell everyone to pop in to say hello next time they come to Stanthorpe.
Thanks for the review.

As one of two Buderim East Probus club committee members, I had the pleasureable experience of staying one night recently at the Happy Valley Retreat outside of Stanthorpe. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful in assisting us with answers to all questions we asked. We ate in the lovely big restaurant and the food was delightful. Before dinner we each sampled the first four beers down the list of from 1 - 4 and enjoyed them all with the exception of the wheat beer. We stayed in a suite and found it to be well equipped with the exception of a table to eat your continental breakfast (included in the overnight tariff). I appreciate there was a table and chairs at the back of the suite but where does one eat when it is raining or cold?

The purpose of our visit was to research the area for a planned trip by members of the Buderim East Probus club to Stanthorpe this July. We chose to stay at Happy Valley as some members had previously stayed there and also enjoyed the experience - we weren't disappointed. Many thanks to the staff for their assistance and hopefully we'll see you again in July for a longer stay.

Regards

Peter Wolfenden and John Peake

Thank you for taking the time to write you review.
We would love to see you again in Winter and are glad you enjoyed your recent stay.

We have often thought it would be nice to have a table and chairs in the cabins, but we are restricted with space. With the queen bed, single bed, couch/lounge suite, fireplace and kitchenette, I can't think how we could fit a table and chairs in. If you have any suggestions, we'd love to hear from you.

Thanks again.

My wife and two other couples recently enjoyed two wonderful days at the Happy Valley Retreat and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Retreat to anyone seeking an ‘all inclusive’ approach to a Granite Belt experience.
The cabins, located a short stroll from the fabulous restaurant and bar were spotlessly clean, well appointed and the beds were extremely comfortable. The meals and dining experience were first class as was the on-site micro brewery produced Porter beers.
We indulged in the 'Booze, Cruise and Snooze' package which was facilitated by Filippos Tours. Tony our driver sought our preferences for wine styles prior to departure from Happy Valley, made a couple of phone calls and we proceeded to visit several of the finest wineries in the region. Lunch was included in the package and our compliments to the Shiraz Bistro & Bar at Ballandean for a delightful meal inclusive of strawberry vinegar on ice cream – sensational!! Thanks also to the Rumbalara winery, voted six to nil as the best we visited, (I have the credit card receipts as proof).
We noted that Geoff and Dee went out of their way to chat with us and other guests which, provided that extra personal touch. (Dee, I managed to buy the last red ant in Stanthorpe).
Thanks for a great experience
Couples Franklins, Harkins & Jones'.

Room Tip: The road from the Micro Brewery to the cabins is very wide.

So glad you managed to get a 'big ant' from town!
See you next time.

I've stayed at this place twice for functions and always had a great time. The staff are very accommodating and can't do enough for you. As for the Timber cabins, they are great for the ageing community. The shower has a seat in it and easy walk in. You would just have to make sure you got a cabin, where you could drive your car right up to the front steps.
The breakfast is very delicious with many choices. Lovely seeing Kangaroos from our front balcony.

So glad you enjoyed your stay.
I have to agree that the showers are good. Not only is the in-built seat great for the 'more mature' guests, it's great for anyone that needs to shave their legs!

We hope to see you next time you're in Stanthorpe.

Thanks,

Dee

We stayed overnight, on perhaps one of the 2 nights per year that Stanthorpe is not under 15C at nite. Upon arrival, the room was hot (37C outside, and hotter inside the room), and they only provide ceiling fans. Temperature overnite decreased to 25C as the minimum, inside the room. Our complaint is the Resort's restaurant and bar, which were also stifling hot, had air conditioning available but the management refused to turn it on. At least 2 other patrons in the restaurant requested some relief from the heat, but the staff steadfastly refused. The place did not have a pool.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

Thanks for your review.
We're not used to getting negative reviews, but understand that during the heatwave our cabins were definately alot warmer than usual. On average Stanthorpe only gets a handful of really hot days and nights that require the blanket to stay off the bed. Unfortunately, your visit must have been during this time.
The timber cabins are made to be cosy in the cold weather. For those warmer days, we have a ceiling fan and a pedastal fan for each room. We don't have airconditioning as we do not feel it is worth spending the money when airconditioning is only required for such a small number of days/night each year. Today is 23/01 and our temperature was 26 degrees today and tonight it is 16 degrees - very typical Stanthorpe summer weather. Tonight I had to supply matches and firestarters to guests for their fireplace.
With regard to not using the airconditioning in the restaurant, we will bring this up in Fridays staff meeting to find out who would have refused to turn it on. This does not sound like our regular staff members who are usually praised for their customer service.
We have found that most diners prefer to sit on the verandah during the warmer months and therefore there is no reason to aircondition the restaurant when there is nobody in it.
Once again, thanks for your review.
