This is the perfect mixture of rugged yet green Australian country. Getting away from the townships, you will be treated to great scenery, lovely personalities and businesses away from the grind of the big smoke.

Loved the wineries tour and the dinner at the Tafe. What a place! Cheeses, fruit, wine, soaps, history. Friendly people! Most enjoyable stay ever!!!

Great scenery. Great wine tasting. Very friendly people. Well worth the short drive from Brisbane.

We spend 2 days in the region. It is very laid back area with lot's of farming. I love the scenery with the rolling hills, the large prairie like pastures and the eucalyptus trees. This is horse-back country.

But the best are the very friendly and warm hearted people of this region.

Stop at one of the many wineries, sample your way through their grapes and have a nice chat with the owner. Truly relaxing.

The Granite Belt is a lovely 4 seasons area to visit. Beautiful drives, lots of wineries, fresh foood/farm gate outlets, masses of accommodation to suit almost anyone. However, the service (or lack) in most of the restaurants and eateries is my bugbear. Cafe's in the main street are very late opening to provide breakfast for visitors, particilarly Sat/Sundays. The attitude to service is generally "take it or leave it". Staff are generally not professional in either their attitude or service, which is a great shame. Restaurants/wineries/cafe meals are generally city prices, but with not the "wow" factor that should be there, given the plethora of fruit/vegetables/meats to be sourced locally. Local tourist providers must work harder to make it a real food destination, not just somewhere to get out of the heat of Brisbane, or to see a frost.

The Granite Belt is a place of climatic contrast. As such it has a good range of local eateries, wineries and natural attractions for the visitor.
