Probably our single favorite spot in Australia. Lovely spacious room, great food, in beautiful forest and your own private platypus. Doesn't get better than that. Hosts overwhelmed us with fresh bread and croissants. Not modern but like our family lake cabin years ago. Very comfortable. Area full of birds and mammals. Arrange a night mammal spotting tour with local guide and neighbor, Jonathan Munro.

The noise of the bamboo swaying in the wind. That’s about as noisy as it gets. Lovely self-contained accommodation in a very private setting.

Great friendly hosts that deliver a huge breakfast hamper complete with freshly baked bread. In fact on the first night our dinner plans changed when the bread arrived. It was just too tempting, so that was dinner. Over welcome drinks you get to find out a bit more about the area and what it has to offer.
Hundreds of DVD's to keep you occupied and gossip mags too, that is if you can’t stay out of the hot spa. Wonderful to have, a great way to relax in the evening, and knowing that the fire inside is keeping the cottage warm for when you eventually get out.

Plenty of wildlife around especially in the pond. Platypus, turtles, and a great variety of birds call it home.

An accommodation with a soul, in a beautiful rainforest setting teeming with birds, with a pond where you can watch wild platypus swimming around whilst you enjoy a delicious breakfast, all pre-prepared so you can eat according to your schedule.Comes with a hot spa outdoors.
I'd return anytime!

What a wonderful place to stay. I brought my parents here for 3 days and we all thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Incredibility peaceful, even a platypus in the pond. Ann and David have thought of everything from CD movies to choose from if you find the time to a good music selection. The kitchen is well equipped with a variety of teas, coffee, breakfast cereal. There was so much food in the Breakfast hamper each morning we could not finish it. Ann and David certainly made us feel welcome and couldn't do enough for us. If you are looking for a quiet secluded place to stay with many different wildlife this is the place to go you won't be disappointed. Thank you once again Ann and David for making our stay so enjoyable.

I am not fond of B&Bs but The Pond Cottage has converted me. So much so that we now stay at least once a year for four or five nights at a time. It is a great place to unwind in the peaceful surroundings, everything you need is on hand and Anne and David are happy to help out with any extras. Can only speak highly of this B&B as I treat it as my second home for a short time yearly.
Thank you Anne and David for allowing us to share in your little piece of paradise.

4 ladies on a long weekend Girls getaway! We do this 3-4 times a year, only this time we were looking for something special, and boy we found it. From the moment you pull into the bamboo covered driveway to be greeted by your hosts, Ann, David and their darling little pooch Whiskey, you are welcomed with warmth and laughter. The cottage is a home away from home and really cute with the log fire and total seclusion. Each day a breakfast hamper is delivered which is totally fresh and amazing (it changes each day) we got excited when they arrived. The surroundings really are too beautiful for words, the abundance of birdsong from sun up to sun down is delightful. you can feed the ducks, turtles and peacocks with many other species as we did and don't forget to lookout for the playful platypus. Ann & David have certainly catered for all inside the cottage with many little extras (for each guest) way too many to list, but you must check out the DVD & CD collections which are for your enjoyment. We were all totally amazed by the Pond Cottage and the surrounds and we are all in agreement, that we will return. So once again thank you to Ann & David, and a little hug for Whiskey.

My husband and I stayed at the Pond Cottage at Ravenhoe for 3 nights. We came over from the Gulf of Carpentaria looking for cool weather and peace and quiet. We were not disappointed from the high standard of accommodation, the warm welcome, peaceful surroundings with abundant wildlife (the platypus in the morning was a highlight) and all the creature comforts that you could ask for. The breakfast basket and all the goodies were much more than we expected. The bonus was that we could take our dog - which is not often available with this standard of accommodation.
We highly recommend The Pond and will certainly be back again.
