“No longer the Big Pineapple that it once was!”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

We had always told our kids that we would take them to the Big Pineapple sometime. We had fond memories of our visit to it in the late 80's. On our recent trip to Noosa we made good on our promise - but what a waste of time!! So disappointing to see this Queensland icon in such a state. The car park was completely empty on our arrival - we joked that we felt like the Griswalds arriving at Wallyworld!! We soon understood why it was empty. Other than a quick photo with the Pineapple, there is very little on offer. There is the train ride, a small animal farm (both at a fee) and small kiosk but that truly is it. The Pineapple itself was looking a bit run down and could certainly use some TLC. If you're in the area, stop for the photo, but don't expect much more than that.

“Big Pineapple -just good for an outside pic”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Passed on public holiday afternoon at 2.45PM and not on the weekend, the pineapple itself looked rundown. Market not open and train already closed, not really that I want to come again - disappointing.

“Ok but........”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

It is not the Aussie icon it once was. There are markets inside now which bring a wide 'variety' of people. Had a banana split from the cafe at the front and it was very tasty. Hopefully one day the whole establishment will return to its former glory!

“Really Disappointed”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

We have fond memories of the Big Pineapple so took my brother and his partner celebrating their 60th birthdays. Arrived early afternoon on Saturday only to discover that there was not much there. We struggled to get something to eat for lunch. My husband bought a Thai curry. The serving was very small and although it was the end of the market time the woman refused to give a reasonable serving. This was unfortunate as the curry was very tasty but soured by the poor service. So if you want to visit it..do so for the markets only and make sure you are there in the morning. So we missed out on our pineapple sundae and left hungry and very diasppointed.!!..Not a pineapple plant in sight except for the fake one.!!

“Just reopened”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

After being closed for some time the big pineapple has been newly reopened. Went on a Saturday morning (got there around 10:00am) when the market was running and it was busy. $10 gets you a train ride, rain forest walk and animal farm entry where the children have an opportunity to pet and feed various animals.
The train ride was the same as it has always been as too the animal farm. There was however no nut-mobile nor nocturnal animal exhibit. Basically anybody who remembers the big pineapple from the 80s-90s would say that it is only 50% there. (Half the exhibits /attractions being operational).

The food from the market was nice and the sellers friendly. The market runs from 6:30am to 1:00pm.
