“Don't bother”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012

Well after two previous visits we attempted to have lunch at silky oaks restaurant. Perhaps our mistake was we have three beautiful well behaved children
We were met at the door with a very hostile "sorry but we can't accept children under 6" which later became "under eight"..... And we're rudely turned away.
Do not bother. Whilst the drive is brilliant we will not be back and I will stop recommending to friends

“Unexpected surprise!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012 via mobile

Been here for dinner on a customer recommendation (living in port douglas), easy reservatio, pleasant and smiling welcoming (we got here 15mins late because of google map! Don't use it if you wanna go there, it sends you to mossman gorge!). The service was very good and pleasant, here when you need it and leaving you alone in the beautifull and relaxing atmosphere of the place. A little tip: i'm sure you don't need a pad for specials! When the dishes comes out (no wait, another good point, especially regarding the quality of the food), still no salt or pepper remains on the table, hope the seasoning will be right! And it was! Perfect seasoning on my baby chicken on caramelised onion and goat cheese, a beauty! My partner crocodile and tarragon cheesecake was delicious, light and a very original idea!
Mains were delicious, a preference for the roasted lamb with pear and goat cheese on one side and an excellent hand made pomme dauphine on the other.
Finally the deserts were as good as the rest, vanilla bean creme brulée (could have been perfect if the top was actually caramelised with a nice layer that you crack with your spoon! I still had some sugar on the top! Anyway it was very pleasant to see a real shape of creme brûlée in 2 years in FNQ, made too often in a thick ramequin when it supposed to be made in a thin one! Thanks for that!) and black sapote & cholate mousse.
You don't expect such a restaurant after that drive in the beautifull rainforest of the surrounding of mossman, but be sure we'll be back for more with friends!

We have been travelling all the month in Australia. After some disappointg resorts, we finally ended up here. It is amazing, with quality food and really romantic to have dinner or lunch. Highly recommended.

“Deilcious Meals Beautiful Views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012

I loved the tree house restaurant, it was my favourite place in all of the Silky Oaks Lodge. Beautifully present meals by a master chef, whilst you enjoy the enchanting surrounds of the forest and mossman river.

“A lesson in how not to treat customers”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

We arrived initially only to have a drink with friends, the reception was vacant of staff as was the boutique.
We decided to stay for lunch but the two female staff had elevated themselves from waitresses to a God like status, the were opinionated, rude, bombastic, and deliberately obstructive to potential customers, they put across so many barriers as to why they could not offer a table to make it impossible for us to eat, despite the dining area almost empty. there was no attempt whatsoever to offer any alternatives.
You get one chance to make a good impression.....You failed!
Customers have a choice........we left!
If you turn away customers your business fails, a simple fact even if you are the best.
No doubt the 'FOR SALE' sign should appear shortly
