“Amazing Snorkelling!”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

A group 6 of us went on a snorkelling trip with Mission Beach Charters, which was amazing!! Some of us have been snorkelling with some of the bigger companies and this was much better. The boat is great, it was far more personal, and tailored to us, just a group of friends experiencing something unforgettable together. We visited 5 different spots all with different perspectives of the reef, it was really special. Our guide was so knowledgeable and keen to point out things to us that we might have missed including bright blue starfish, living shells, corals and sea cucumbers. The reef was teeming with life, we saw sharks and countless beautiful fish. Coming back into shore after our gorgeous calm day on the reef with the sun setting and the tunes ringing out will stay with me forever.

Thank you for your compliments. I actually managed to extract myself from the office and go for a snorkel at the same locations not long ago, and I would have to agree - the reef is teeming with life! I'm so glad you and your friends enjoyed yourselves - that's exactly what Jase and I strive to achieve -a personalised tour experience within this tropical paradise that we are lucky enough to call 'home'...
We hope to see you again so we can increase those fond memories further!
Warm wishes
Bec (& Jase)

“A perfect day!”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

As a family we have visited Australia on a number of occasions and during these trips have visited many different places. Sadly we have seen an increase in the 'pack 'em in' type tours where you are charged a fortune to have a standardised tour given to you - don't ask for anything out of the ordinary because so often the response we have received is "we don't do that" .

Jase and Bec gave us the most perfect of days to experience one of the most beautiful places in Australia, in the way that we wished to as a family. A personalised service where our needs and wishes were paramount - a day tailored to what we wanted to do not what a tour operator thought we should be doing.

Mission Beach Charters offer a wide range of activities and when we booked Bec asked what we would like to do on our full day charter - the answer was easy... everything! Unbelievably Jase seemed to achieve this with us seeing whales within the first 15 minutes of being picked up from the beach (right in front of where we were renting a house). This amazing experience was then followed by seeing a pod of dolphins, then numerous sightings of turtles and a myriad of other wildlife all of which Jase was able to give us detailed information about.

We then did a spot of fishing (catching fish I can't even remember the names of , I do know Grunter was one) which then led up to perhaps the highlight of the day which was the most superb BBQ picnic on the most picturesque of tropical islands. Jase's BBQ skills were exemplary and complemented beautifully the wonderful food that Bec had prepared for us. Her culinary skills were tested by us, as we are family that has very specific dietary needs what with various allergies and my dread of eggplant!

Jase is a highly professional and attentive skipper and guide with nothing being too much trouble or effort for him. His knowledge of the area and the wildlife within it is second to non. He went that extra mile to answer our questions and generally helping us to truly appreciate and enjoy what the Mission Beach, Family Islands and Hinchenbrook area have to offer in terms of the most wonderful natural history, flora and fauna.

I can imagine that people may see the initial cost of a full day charter to be a little off putting but in our opinion when you look at what Jase and Bec provide and you compare it to the cost of the 'pre-packed' trips that you can do it is a complete no brainer - go out with them and have the most fantastic day - we most certainly did!

“Awesome whale watching trips!”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

We were told about Jason's whale watching trips by a friend and after watching whales in Hawaii this year doubted that they could hold a candle to what we have experienced on Maui...how wrong were we! Jason and Bec run a great business and were very keen to make sure their guests have a great time. I never envy whale watch skippers as whales are wild animals and getting to see one is never a given. On all 3 days Jason delivered and on the second day he delivered in spades with a whale that got up close enough to us to spray whale snot on my camera lens!
Safe boat, professional enthusiastic skipper and plenty of whales...what more could you ask for. Jason's comprehensive knowledge of his local waters gave us a real edge with regards to finding whales. The price was excellent and represented tremendous value for money. I would recommend this tour to anyone and rate the whole experience as 5 star. We will be returning for sure.
If you only do one tour when you go to Mission Beach get your butt on board this boat!

“Had a day I will talk about for years to come”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

We went on a whale watching charter with Jase who spotted a lone whale only 15 minutes into our tour. This whale stayed with us for about 2 hours coming right up to the boat to check us out. What a fantastic experience and in a 6 metre boat, we felt safe but completely dwarfed by the whale. Thanks jase for being such a good host and great company. Nothing was too much trouble and you made this a once in a lifetime experience for all of us. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

“Island paradise”
Reviewed May 13, 2012

Thanks Bec and Jason for an amazing trip! This is the kind of thing you want to keep a secret so that you are able to do it again, because this is a gem waiting to be discovered. We camped on Coombe island, one of the family islands for two nights and three days. Bec advised us to stay on Coombe island as when you get your camping permit, you're the only ones allowed on the island, so a private tropical island all to yourself for about $11 a night. Bec and Jason were both incredibly helpful and friendly throughout from enquiry until we left mission beach- the best customer service going. Our seafood platter they made for us was lovely and the trip to Coombe is about 45min/1hr with beautiful views. Can't recommend this highly enough, just hope we come back to Aus soon so we can do it all again!
