“OK but don't think it's 4 star”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

Stayed one night - was $145 (cheaper booked direct rather than any of the online sites) - was a bit dusty and the fridge had a rank smell when you opened it. Towel rails ripped off the walls in the bathroom so just holes left doesn't look good. No tissues at all - would expect that in a 4 star - it was OK but don't expect anything fancy

Restaurant meal was OK but not great and quite expensive for what it was.

It does say on their website 2 1/2 hours north of Townsville - would love to see someone make it in that time without all the roadworks around at the moment.

The Eco Village was a great break for us after a 3 month camping tour in QLD. We had a friendly welcome and offered a very quiet location. Our unit overlooked the garden and was only a small distance from the beach. Each unit was very private with each terrace not overlooking any other. The ventilation was brilliant with louvres and a fan. The kitchen area was well appointed and allowed self catering easily. There was even a full size fridge. Such a bonus. The unit was a relaxing place to stay in a busy little beach town. There were only a couple of faults: there was no evident smoke detector at all in the unit and the towel rails in the bathroom had been pulled out of the wall. The manager was in the process of rectifying this. We did note quite clear black mould in the pitch grooves of the ceiling in the lounge and the bathroom - not a good look. Despite this small faults we would stay at the eco Village anytime. It is a patch of paradise.

I really can't find any faults - friendly and helpful owners, great location, individual bungalows. Clean rooms and grounds. The pool is unique. The restaurant food was quite good, although all we had was two entrees. You can even use their kayak or canoe for free. Don't see how you could do better in this area, especially for a family at this price.

Welcome to paradise. The very special pool, the big and comfortable bungalow and the sweetest daughter bringing exotic fruits for lunch by the sea. The little village is well designed and you just want to stay for a long time. It's clean and quiet and with an appealing atmosphere. We had excellent dinner there as well. With our 2 boys we really enjoyed the resort and the area.

Wow just spent two nights at this lovely place. We had a Bungalow with Spa an this pool just off our decking sadly it was to cold to use. The room was very large an very clean. the tropical gardens were very nice. You are so close to the ocean you can hear it we were in the closest one to the beach which is Bungalow 17. The owner is very friendly an nothing is any trouble. The restaurant food is the BEST i have had in a long time so good we ate there twice. We are going back again in October it was so good. Would highly recommended this Great laid back Property.

Room Tip: Bungalow 17 closest to beach suitable only for couple. Has spa an little pool.

A lovely little resort. Great location, exceptionally well-designed to take advantage of the site and for the privacy of each of the villas (also high quality in design and materials). Beds were really comfortable. Friendly, laid-back service, good food and facilities. Highly recommended.

A friend had recommended this place to us for a family holiday, so we hoped Eco Village was going to be good. In the event we were overwhelmed by the warm service, location and standard of this family-run resort - it was just wonderful.

Easy walking distance to Mission Beach's restaurants and local foodstore, either along the beach or the road, but hidden away in a little bit of rainforest. Very convenient - although it's a drive to the nearest big supermarket, if you like that sort of thing.

We stayed in a self-contained bungalow with our two kids. The kitchen was clean and well equipped. We self-catered half the time to save a bit of money. Very nice too, sitting out on the balcony.

We really enjoyed borrowing the complimentary kayaks and fishing rods (+ tackle), taking a day trip out to the reef and another over to Dunk Island. Most of the time though, we just enjoyed the fact that the kids had made friends with others at the resort and could basically just run wild - safely - filtting between the swimming pool, Rocky Beach and Sandy Beach. Classic family holiday.

Thank you Daniel for your warm hospitality, going above and beyond every time of asking.

Room Tip: Rooms close to pool are good for kids, but can be a little noisy. Others are closer to beach or near...
