Just recently decided to have a week away, After deciding on the Sunshine Coast as i had never been there i spent many hours pondering whether i should stay in Noosa, Mooloolaba or Maroochydore,
Personally i feel i made the right choice! Maroochydore is a great little spot and i chose the Duporth for it's location. It is literally opposite the corner of Wharf Street, Ocean Street, Duporth Avenue and about 5 doors down is the entrance to Big Top Shopping Centre or theres also Sunshine Plaza (With a Coles, Birch Carroll, More Puns/Restaurantsw etc) a 5 min walk away (Continue to the end of ocean Street shops and turn left and it's directly across the road)
As mentioned location is great, now to the Apartment, I had booked a one bedroom for 7 nights and put down a $200 deposit, Of which the full balance was to be paid once i arrived (Fair enough) I arrived and Leah checked me in, She seemed friendly enough and gave me Apartment 502 (5th Floor) I proceeded to the apartment and first impressions were good, The Kitchen was clean, Appliances relatively up to date (Including an LCD in the Living Area and Smaller Tv in the main bedroom) Dishwasher, Oven, Microwave, Stove etc , Nice artwork on the walls. it had a full bathroom, Walk in Wardrobe and Laundry (Washing machine and Dryer), And second toliet, There were also 3 rooms that had been locked i later discovered these were the 2nd bedroom, 3rd bedroom and another bathroom I meant to ask them why they issued me a 3 bedroom, But unfortunately it slipped my mind,
Both the living area and the main bedroom shared the same (HUGE) balcony with a full set of table and Chairs and the most beautiful river/ocean view.
The gist of it is the apartment was great and suited my needs, That night however i discovered the walls were a little thin as i could hear the neighbours so just be aware that everyone can hear your conversations!!! Once i got into bed it felt like a concrete slab, it was HARD! and i mean HARD! I like a soft bed and i ended up sleep deprived by the end of the week and even contemplated sleeping on the couch in the living room it was that bad! As all apartments are individually owned i get the feeling whoever owns 502 put in the cheapest bed and thinnest mattress and base available!
The next morning i noticed scratches on the tv, Markings on the walls etc and was quite surprised that an apartment of less than 10 years old had so much wear and tear,
Now for the provisions: You get 2 rolls of Toliet paper (It's the nasty home brand stuff), 2 little shampoo bottles, A soap, A sachet of Dishwashing Detergent to manually wash dishes, A sachet of Dishwashing Powder for the Dishwasher, Around 6 little milks in the fridge and 2 Rubbish bags for the bins, After that if you need anymore you have to supply your own. Truth be told all these items seemed to be on the cheaper scale and like a previous reviewer said for a 4 and a half star you'd think they'd do a little bit better than home brand for guests!!!
Reception: Look she was nice enough but Leah doesnt seem to like being asked about tourist questions etc My first full day i went in and asked did they have a bus schedule/Idea of fare to Noosa?? ($16 by the way and the main bus terminal is at Sunshine Plaza) She pointed at Duporth Avenue and said "Try the Bus stop just down there..." OOOOKKK..... After that i figured it was pointless asking, Until a few days later i see them advertising certain tours, I walk in and we discuss the tour i want to do she said "I'll call them later and then get you to fill in the form"
Why not call them now? I mean i understand they must be busy at times but she just seemed to have a very nonchalant attitude
To be fair as i said she was otherwise friendly, and the other couple who work alongside her were lovely.
The Pool was beautiful as is the spa and the Gym has decent facilities, They are open from 7am to 9pm.
All in all i'd rate the apartments as 3 star in a more localised neighbourhood experience! They certainly weren't the worst i've stayed in, but not the best either.
Next time i'd probably stay elsewhere if only for the bed!!!!
