Description: The Prickly Pinata Fresh Mexican Cantina brings cheerful healthy, fresh and Mexican flavoured cuisine with a double dose of fun to Cotton Tree. The Prickly Pinata is open for lunch and dinner with an unbeatable view and transforms into a vibrant, busy evening restaurant. Vibrant pastel coloured walls painted with sugar skulls and an assortment of cactus-filled pot plants injects a relaxed Sunshine Coast beachside spin on traditional Mexican style, making it an ideal spot to chill out with a refreshing cocktail on the deck before settling in for a feast to share with friends. The Prickly Pinata's menu effortlessly combines traditional Mexican dishes with on-trend flavours, evident in crowd pleasers such as the tortilla crumbed zucchini chips with spiced beetroot and pepitas dip as well as the confit Bungalow pork taco with salsa verde, onion and coriander. The Prickly Pinata's menu has been designed to be shared, offering a variety of different sized & styled dishes. Our menu originates from Baja California which is a state of Mexico. Baja Mexican boasts the use of Fresh vegetables, fruits, meats and seafood. Prickly Pinata's menu is wide, offering choice to suit everyone's needs.

Travelling from Melbourne my sister-in-law wanted to visit based on the vegan menu and past experiences, and I'm glad she did. They accommodated our last minute reservation, we had an excellent table, and the place had a fun vibe. The food was great, service good and overall - it was a really pleasant night. My suggestion on how to improve - relax a little with the removal of plates, we had to stop them from taking dishes that we were still eating. Overall - a fun and tasty night, do try out for yourself.

The food here is excellent.

Great value for money.

A really nice spot to watch the world go by.

Often has live music.

Lunch or dinner here is a good choice and sure bet.

In and out within the hour easily. Ordered 5 small plates between 2 of us and woofed them down. BBQ wings, the sauce was delightful $14 for 9 of the tasty suckers.
Street Corn, $9 for 3 small rounds with yummy grated parmesan all over the plate to rub the corn in before shoving in your gob.
Zesty Baja Salad, $14 large serving of healthy salad with avocado. Yum. Great accompaniment to the 4 other dishes.
Tostada Sliders, $12 for 3. Small serving. Need 3 plates of this one. Beef, chicken and pork baby tostadas.
Calamari Rings, $15. Omg so good. They get presented as fat cut potato chips but it's really the beautiful calamari. Was not expecting to be wowed by this plate but so yummy.
Red Sangria $8.
Public holiday surcharge of 15%.
We'll be back. Service friendly & quick but kept trying to clear the plates before I'd scrapped them clean.

We only tried the burrito's via takeaway but they were pretty good. I have had better but the ingredients tasted fresh, they stayed hot on the way home (packaged really well) and everyone enjoyed them. They could have done with a bit more spice too but overall pretty good. Great service and we didn't have to wait to long for our meals, despite them being quite busy.
