“Great food spoilt by poor service”
Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

Really enjoyed our Lamb Targines but were frustrated by the poor service. The restaurant was not overly busy but we waited 15 minutes for someone to take our drink orders another 15 for them to arrive and when we finished them they didn't ask if we would like another. Customer service people...it's not that hard

“Restaurant serving interesting food”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

We had an interesting meal at this little restaurant which is tucked away behind the M1 building on the non-seaward side of Duporth Avenue.

We shared 3 tapas to start – marinated sardines, squid rings in sauce and chicken with preserved lemon and olives. They were all extremely tasty.

We then each had a different main course – lamb tajine for me and paella for him (the restaurant describes itself as Moroccan and Spanish which explains the paella).

My lamb was very tasty – tender lamb pieces in a thick 'gravy' with prunes. I needed a spoon for all the juice and a side of flat bread to mop it up. Very rich and filling.

His paella was described as excellent with perfect rice (and he does know his paella). There was a reasonable amount of seafood amongst the rice.

The winelist was compact, but reasonably priced. They also accept byo.

The link to the restaurant’s website on this page is accurate at the time of writing the review.

We would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something a little different. We did, however, think it was a little overpriced compared with other nearby restaurants of comparable standard.

We would certainly eat there again, although it is food we would like to taste occasionally rather than regularly.

“Loved it!”

This is now my favourite restaurant. First time trying Moroccan was such a special experience. The lamb tagine was amazing. Thank you to the staff who explained the menu to a novice like me. We wil be back soon!

“2nd time back - most likely the last”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

I was very keen to get back to this place and have another great meal. Alas, a lot has changed in 3 months. The service was fairly poor - perhaps because there were just two of us this time - but it was a quiet night and all 3 waitresses stood in the corner and didn't come and take our orders for what seemed like a ridiculous amount of time. We got the seafood tagine which was basically a tasteless tomato soup with a handful of seafood in it, and a seafood paella that was mostly rice - again not much flavouring - in fact I've had better out of a packet. We had to pay extra for couscous. Lucky it was BYO because at least we could enjoy the taste of something - our own wine. We didn't stay for dessert and sadly, I won't be back. Such a shame as it was a standout in Maroochydore back in March.
