“Spicers Tamarind Restaurant is a flavour experience not to miss!”
Reviewed December 28, 2011

We had an amazing dinner at Spicers Tamarind Restaurant. You don't have to be a guest at the Spicers Tamarind Retreat to access this world class restaurant. Whether you're a local, staying at the retreat or making a trip to the area this restaurant is the perfect place to relax and enjoy some amazing food and soak up the fantastic atmosphere of the hinterland. My husband and I love Thai food and we have eaten at many Thai restaurants in Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand, and this Thai food experience was one of the best we've had. From the fusion of flavours to the presentation we were both surprised and delighted. Coupled with very welcoming staff and just the right ambiance the whole dining experience was one definitely worth repeating! We chose this restaurant for our wedding anniversary dinner, and to celebrate this occasion we were given complimentary champagne on our arrival and seated at a table overlooking the tranquil flowing water and garden in the centre of the restaurant. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for a Birthday dinner celebration, anniversary or even a family get-together. Enjoy!

A very enjoyable couple of nights spent here. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food plus service were fantastic. The grounds and accommodation are extremely well presented. The restaurant is next to a pond/garden area and the 'pavilions' (cabins/rooms) are spaced out amongst the gardens providing quiet and privacy. There is a log fire which we made use of as the weather wasn't great while we were there and the best bit... a hot tub outside. Breakfast was included in our package and was lovely. We also took part in the cooking school and this is well worth doing if you are interested. The class was good with plenty of advice and you cook up a small feast! We didn't use the pool so can't comment on that. The Spa was excellent and is very new. This place isn't cheap but you get what you pay for.. Delicious food, comfortable surrounds, good amenities and excellent, attentive service.

Room Tip: We were in pavilion 3 which was a one bed accomodation. It was very provate and close to the little...

Take your partner for a weekend to Spicers Tamarind. You will not be disappointed for the dollars spent. You have to travel down a dirt road to get to the Retreat but it is very quiet and peaceful for a restful weekend. The accommodation is amazing little cabins (spacious inside with great showers and with spas outside. Fantastic in winter as they have fireplaces to keep you warm. There is a little creek a short distance away which is nice for a walk. The staff are very attentive and the Restaurant is to die for. It is Asian based but beautiful food. Highly recommended and good for the Maleny area. Two nights go really fast and the breakfast is very good. You can order anything you wish with a Chef on tap. Take the plunge and go. From Maleny other areas of the Sunshine Coast can be explored while staying at the Retreat.

Room Tip: All units are such the same. Some are near the pool but because we stayed in winter no-one was in t...

Just returned from 4 magic days at Spicers Tamarind. Excellent accommodation, peaceful surroundings, friendly courteous staff, magnificent food.

The pavillions are private, very comfortable and well appointed with quality furnishings, linen and books. The grounds are extensive and well maintained in a peaceful tropical setting. The staff throughout are friendly, efficient and helpful.

The restaurant is superb. The continental breakfast (included) overlooking the rainforest was outstanding, and in the evening we enjoyed some of the best Thai meals we have experienced (coconut soup, and mussaman curry - our favourites!). Spicers also provide free transfers to Clovely Estate restaurant (also excellent) if you want a French dining experience..

All this added up to a very comfortable and relaxing break.

The retreat is a credit to the Spicers Group and particularly its manager and creator Paul Blain. We will definitely be returning!
