“When Silence is Golden”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

This peaceful retreat soothes the senses. The tree houses are private, well appointed and have many thoughtful inclusions. What is not supplied can be, nothing is too much trouble. You do not need to go anywhere! The outlook, sunsets, wildlife and all the information available in your room about this low impact, environmentally friendly retreat is perfect. There are great walks to the creek and waterfall with platypus sightings fairly common. It is a bird watchers dream. Relaxing on the deck or catching a dvd from the free library are options as are an open fire and private spa. Even candles are supplied. Thank you so much for a tranquil two nights away.

Room Tip: Tree house 8 and others on the side road have short driveways that enable you to walk out the front...

Excellent!! Location, atmosphere, the people, all excellent!
I was there with my son, but the lodges is great for a couple (with a great jacuzzi! and it so romantic) or a family. We also had dinner there that was a bit pricy but the food was excellent. Its also a great location to explore the Atherton Tablelands

We initially booked into Rose Gums for 1 night, but stayed for three. The setting, privacy, accommodation and service were excellent. The cabins (we stayed in Kookaburra) were just what we were looking for – set in the rainforest where you could easily believe that you were miles from the nearest people with floor to roof glass out into the rainforest. We woke each day to a wonderful dawn chorus. The cabins were beautifully finished with local timbers and provided a wonderful luxury experience. The morning bird feeding with the owners was also excellent – informative, entertaining but not unduly interfering with the local wildlife. On-property walks to the local creeks were great. They were well marked and with 10mins quite waiting we were rewarded with great views of the local platypus in the creek. All in all, a solid 9 out of 10.

I booked Rose Gums as a night away for my husbands birthday surprise. I recieved quick responses via email when contacted them regarding availability etc.
We were only booked in for the one night, however I would recommened a couple of days here if you wish to unwind and relax properly.

The treehouse was beautifully made, and the ammenities were wonderful. How blissful was it to go to sleep with the crackle of the fireplace and the sound of rain on the roof, then to wake up to the morning chorus of birds, the misty rain through the forest.

Our view was of the trees/forest and birds. It was perfect and relaxing.
The studio was equiped with a small kitchen, and an outside BBQ plate. The fridge holds your breakfast hamper (juice, eggs, bacon, bread, yoghurt, cereal), plunger coffee, a large jar of museli plus a bottle of milk.
The kitchen is stocked with lots of pots and pans as well as a microwave.
The bathroom had a large spa bath with an amazing view of the forest.
To our surprise we had a T.V that got reception (and DVD player- there are heaps of free movies to borrow at reception). You will not have phone/internet reception in the treehouse, however that did not bother us at all.

Everything about this place was relaxing. We will be back to explore the walking tracks and all the guide information that the owners of Rose gums has put together looked amazing.

We didn't dine in the restaurant as we were happy to chill out in the treehouse.

This place is a wonderful getaway.

Room Tip: I can recommend Studion 4 (Kookaburra). It is away from the road and very quiet and tranquil.

I just returned from a weekend away up at Rose Gums and it was just fantastic! The rooms were beautiful and secluded and not having phone service meant you could really just escape from the outside world. We went for a walk down to the creek which was beautiful, lazed around by the fire and just enjoyed relaxing. I also must mention their restaurant! The food was wonderful. We ate there both nights to sample as much as we could off their menu and everything was amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better experience and will definitely be coming back!

I was looking for a weekend getaway somewhere on the Tablelands. After initially booking for only 1 night, we enjoyed the place so much, we stayed for 2 nights!! The architecture, quiet rainforest atmosphere and complete feeling of secludedness was very relaxing and just spectacular! The service was also fantastic. I would recommend to all who are looking for a beautiful place to stay or just to relax.
