“Clean, comfortable and friendly”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

We stayed 3 nights at this motel and found it to be clean and comfortable and the staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant was very good but we didn't make breakfast because we didn't realise it was only between the hours of 7 and 8. My husband did manage a cup of coffee and have to agree with one of the other guests, a decent coffee would not go astray for the coffee lovers. We had one complaint and it is not the fault of the hotel, and that was the mosquitos. We had to cover up all the holes in the bathroom, spray and shut the door quickly. There were millions of them! Fortunately they were not as vicious as others I have encountered. We were not expecting 5 star and overall we were happy staying in this motel. As with most small country motels they all need a bit of a "tart up"

Hi,
Thank you for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your time with us. We did have a problem with mosquitos for a short time which was rectified. With regards to the coffee we are looking into improvements for next year and for the tea lovers as well. Our staff are always striving to make our guests stay as comfortable as possible and we are pleased you found this to be the case.
Take care and we look forward to maybe seeing you again in the future.

We stayed here for 1 night and really enjoyed our stay. The kids loved the kangaroos on the front lawn and that they could see the qantas plane from the park. We dined in at the restaurant and found it to be lovely, only downfall we waited quite sometime to receive our meals.

Hi,
Thank you your review. We do have a native animal collection happening on our front lawn most afternoons, which our guests find entertaining. Our restaurant caters for inhouse diners and often many room service orders so we apologise if you felt you waited a little long for your meal, but delighted to hear you did enjoy your meal when it arrived.

The motel is clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and had excellent food. Highly recommend the barramundi, delicious! My only disappointment was the lack of decent coffee, particularly in the mornings.
The pool area is very inviting and the lawn often had kangaroos and emus enjoying the green grass. Location is conveniently opposite the Qantas museum, close to the Stockman Hall of Fame but a small distance from the town.
The best part though are the staff, particularly managers Tony and Jane.  I was travelling with my elderly father and they could not do enough to help us, and their friendliness and helpfulness made a big difference to our trip.  When Tony couldn't drive us one night, he allowed me to drive their bus.  They picked us up and dropped us off wherever we needed to go and on one of the many pickups, Tony came in his fully restored EH Holden, a highlight for my 91 year old father.
Tony's tour of Longreach, which included many stories of him growing up, was funny, entertaining and informative.
Thanks very much Tony & Jane.  We appreciated all your help.

Hi Robyn,
Pleased to see you made it safely home. It was our pleasure to show you around Longreach.
Tony enjoyed showing off his car as much as your father enjoyed riding around in it.
Thank you and take care

We spent a very enjoyable 4 nights at Albert Park. We did not expect 5 star luxury. What we got and what we expected was a clean comfortable room . What we did not expect was the great service we had from the staff. amazing!! Tony and Jane could not do enough to make our stay in the Outback so memorable. This hotel is very close and in walking distance to the main tourist attractions. I.e. Qantas Founders Museum, The Stockmans Hall of Fame and the Long Distance School of Learning. It is not an easy walk into Longreach but no problem we were taken to anywhere we wanted to go. The restaurant was good, restricted open hours but did not create a problem because we had so much we wanted to do. The swimming pool was very cold. our only disappointment!! Well done Tony and Jane we would recommend your hospitality to everyone.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the highway but did not find noise a problem. Lovely outlook and close sighting...

You're not going to find a Four Seasons in Longreach, so let's get that out of the way now. The Albert Park is generally regarded as the best place to stay in town. While I didn't go around with a white glove and UV light, the impression was clean. No stains or mildew, no broken stuff, outside swept - but there is no escaping this is a rural motel. What's the big deal then? Well even though Aussies generally are not the complaining type, especially the country folks, Longreach is a major tourism hub and commerce centre. You have two of the country's most significant regional tourism drawcards in the one town namely the Stockmans Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Museum, which draw visitors from all over the country and internationally. I would hope this might spur the owners to modernise a little.

The rooms, while spacious enough, clean and neat, are still tired and dated. Laminex, gawdy bedspreads and limited in-room amenities. There's no in-room Internet, but there is provision in the reception. Not always convenient for business travellers who might need to stay up late. There's no complimentary bottled water although there's a water jug in the fridge. Perfectly fine, just that mine was empty. Coffee and tea takes me back to motels of the '70s. Plain Jane tea bags and instant coffee powder satchels. Oh, well. :(

Dining is in a themed 'country shed' kind-of atmosphere and there's a derelict old car out front. Sort-of works. Breakfast offering was the usual cereals (fine by me) some fruit and regular hot offerings. Adequate, but unremarkable.

You might think I'm being hard here and I really wanted to find that fourth point, but breakfast coffee was still cheap instant and when I enquired about the espresso machine taunting me from behind the bar, I received a flat “sorry we don't do espresso for breakfast”. Bzzzt! Wrong answer.

It could be that Albert Pk are a bit complacent without real competition in town but with Longreach billing itself as a major regional attraction for Queensland, this motel is not holding up its end of the deal. Sorry.

Hi Rod,
Thank you for your review. We do have 2 iconic national tourist attractions on our doorstep that many visitors come to see, but tourism for us is seasonal not all year round. It is a shame you only spent a night with us and didn't give us the opportunity to share with you what we believe makes the Albert Park a little more special and memorable over other motels.
Take care

Though the rooms are big. The shower area is a little tired. The pillows are yukky I will bring my own next time. In saying that. The motel is lovely. Very well set out. It's a little distance from town. I wouldn't want to walk to town. Too far. But perfect in the fact it's right out the front of the qantas and stock mans hall of fame. Walking distance which is great.

We stayed here for one night before we started camping on a five week trip, we found it great they were really helpful, the rooms were big and basic, we had room to park our car and camper trailer which was great. The owners were very good at making everyone feel welcome and ensuring they knew what was happening around town. I would highly recommend, good value for money.
