Owner description: Welcome to the Qantas Founders Museum. We are an independent not-for-profit community organization and registered charity, operating since 1996, to commemorate the ethos and preserve the material heritage of the founders and early operations of Qantas Airways Ltd. Today, we are a world-class museum and cultural display, eloquently telling the story of the founding of Qantas through interpretive displays, interactive exhibits, replica aircraft and an impressive collection of genuine artifacts. Our collection incorporates four of the world’s most significant airliners – the Consolidated PBY Catalina Flying Boat, the Douglas DC3, the Boeing 707 and the legendary Boeing 747. In addition, we have full scale replicas of some of the most important aircraft in the early Qantas fleet – the DeHaviland DH-61 Giant Moth, the DeHaviland DH-50, and the Avro 504k Dyak; Qantas’ first ever aircraft.

Great staff, excellent museum, well kept aircraft and great guided tours. Including the 747 tour and the wing walk it is almost a full day!

The founders museum was really interesting, plenty to see and learn. It was great to be able to sit in the older aircraft - people must have been much smaller back then! I really try to be positive about reviews however we visited on Easter Monday and perhaps they weren't expecting such a large crowd so our group of 10 people took 50 minutes to receive our lunch in the Cafe, so then were unable to take the 707 tour which was really disappointing.

Hi there,

Thank you for your honest feedback concerning the service you received in our restaurant. As a result of your feedback, in concert with other feedback we have received, we have decided to introduce a range of buffet specials that allow for more expedient service on high frequency days. It is hoped that this should better allow our customers time for a quick bite to eat before joining one of our guided tours.

Having said that, 50min is an unacceptable amount of time to wait for food and we apologise unreservedly for the delay. We are investigating the matter to determine how we can improve our processes to avoid such occurrences in the future.

We are glad that you found the Museum enjoyable and we hope that if you are ever in our region again you get the opportunity to enjoy one of our very popular Jet Tours!

was good but a bit too long if you do not go into the boeing plane, an extra expense. Cafe was great, great ice coffees

A brilliant display of Australia's National Airline, it's beginnings and history, and it's huge part in shrinking the world for Australian residents -- the 'tyranny of distance' had been conquered!
