“What an absolute delight to find one of Australia's best kept secrets "Harry's" Restaurant.”
Reviewed January 26, 2010

While the motel has been there for a while, you cannot fault the customer service it was wonderful. However I was very surprised at the quality of meals from "Harry's" Restaurant. I travel all over the world and have dined in some really good and really bad restaurants, I was absolutely overwhelmed by the Barramundi, so much so that I proceeded to tell everyone in the dinning room that they should definitely try it.
Over a period of a week I ate my way through some of the best dishes I have eaten. Congratulations to Carl and his team......Australia's best kept secret!

Recently, I decided to take my young family on a trip to Longreach in Central Queensland. We live in Brisbane and thought it would be an interesting and enjoyable experience to visit Longreach and see all the attractions there. We stayed in Longreach for 3 nights, at the Longreach Motor Inn. The staff were extremely helpful, courteous and polite and the service they provided was impeccable. The cleanliness and presentation of the room was a compliment to the management team. We ate dinner twice in 'Charlie's' restaurant and on both occasions the restaurant staff provided us with fantastic service and the food was delicious. I recommend staying at the Longreach Motor Inn to anybody traveling to Longreach

My fiance and I stayed for 4 nights as part of our outback adventure tour we planned ourselves, we were only going to stay 2 nights but decided to extended our stay and enjoy our time in longreach at the motor Inn.
My partner and I love good food and was not disappointed with Harrys Restaurant with a good selection on the menu and specials board, the food was well cooked and neatly presented ( have the beef cheeks! yum).
The service was happy and helpful also with recommending a wine for us to enjoy with our meal. We tried wines that were selected from smaller vineyards in Australia and were not dissapointing and were surprised at the selection available considering other restaurants in the area.
The room we stayed in was neat, clean with good airconditioning and was very comfortable for our stay. The girls in the reception were very helpful with local knowledge and getting about Longreach.

For such a tourist hub we were very surprised at the quality of the motels around Longreach. We chose the Longreach Motor Inn because it offered a two bedroom unit for $150 per night which we thought wasn't too bad since the single rooms were priced at about $110-120 around town. Its location is very central and it is only a short walk to local restaurants (would recommend the RSL for a good quality/size meal) and the main street.

Unfortunately the staff member who was working on reception at the time of our arrival was chatting on his personal mobile whilst attempting to serve another customer. In my view this says a lot about the management of a motel. Thankfully he eventually hung up when reception started to get busy. He clearly didn't know what he was doing but we put that aside and headed up to the room.

The rooms appear reasonably clean although I wouldn't go raving about them. They are old, stuffy and very plain. The bathrooms are basic and they have those shampoo/conditioner dispensers in the shower (I think they're ok but I know my girlfriend hates them). The beds were fine but then again we were all pretty tired. The airconditioning worked fine but we were told by other travellers that they had had power problems the night before. Luckily we didn't experience any problems!

Overall this motel isn't too bad considering there is very little choice in Longreach. A friend who travels frequently to Longreach and Barcaldine on business told us not to expect much in the way of motels in Longreach so we didn't. In his view it is best to stay in Barcaldine but if you do that you'll miss out on the fantastic opportunities in Longreach!

I stay regularly at the Longreach Motor Inn because the quality of service, exceptional standard of meals available in the restaurant and the attitude of "We can't do enough for the customer" makes the Motor Inn the perfect place to relax after a long day at work.

We chose to stay at the Longreach Motor Inn solely because of the Trip Advisor rating and reviews. This motel certainly has a great location opposite the railway station, is a couple of blocks from the town's main street and a block to the RSL or Longreach Club, and it's an easy, beautifully landscaped (2km) walk to the QANTAS Museum and Stockman's Hall.

While the staff reacted immediately to any matters raised and were very helpful, we were disappointed with our room. Maybe it's because we had a ground floor room, but it was extremely dark as all the windows have been painted out black so very little natural light. You would have to have very bad eyes not to notice the mould in the shower and, the bathroom particularly, was not as clean as expected. It was very old and dated and the soap dish in the shower that had obviously once cracked in half was crudely glued back together. It seems par for the course these days that many amenities are not included, so ladies, if you use a shower cap, take your own - none supplied. The loo must use about 50 litres of water every flush - no water saving here.

We could hear our neighbours coughing and sneezing and using everything in their bathroom .... very, very early every morning (so they must have heard us!). Vehicles were parked directly outside our glass sliding doors (under a carport) and that was also fun to listen to them starting up and running for a little while before departing .... also very early in the morning.

A very basic continental breakfast is only served until 8am (whisked away at 7.55am). This may not be a problem for many, but we were on holidays, after all and would have loved a bit of a sleep in. Otherwise, it was OK!

The Longreach Motor Inn was the ideal place for a group of us older persons to stay.
It is located across the road from the railway station, great for those travelling by train. Because of its location it is an easy walk into the town centre one way and up to the Hall of Fame, the QANTAS Museum and the School of Distance Education the other way.
The staff are very friendly and are happy to help in any way they can to help make the stay enjoyable. They provide details and can arrange visits to the many attractions in the area. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable and the food is excellent. A great place to stay.
