“Try the walk to Barron Falls”
Reviewed July 14, 2014 via mobile

With a free day in Cairns, we decided to take the Northlands Shuttle ($6.50 pp each way from Cairns centre) up to Kuranda. We walked from the town centre to the Barron Falls boardwalk (about 2.5 km). It was a good way to spend the late morning/ early afternoon. The view of the falls from the boardwalk look outs provided for good photo opportunities.

We didn't hang around Kuranda too long upon our return as we really aren't into tourist shopping and the like.

All and all it was an enjoyable and relatively inexpensive way to spend most of a day.

Tip: Pack a lunch and enjoy the view.

“Magnificent!”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

Everything in and around Cairns/Port Douglas is so very expensive particularly if you have teenage children and can't get family packages. However, the walk through the canopy to Barron Falls is totally free!!! And beautiful!! It's only a short drive from Kuranda so add it to your day trip!

“Great outlook”

Spectacular in the wet season after rains. Fairly ordinary for the remainder of the year. Still worth the visit at any time.

“Great vistas thru the rainforest”
Reviewed July 6, 2014 via mobile

The falls car park behind Kuranda town is the beginning of a fantastic 650m walk along raised walkways thru the rainforest. The national parks service has built a tremendous easy to manage walkway for all ages. It connects the local aboriginal history and attachment to the falls with a scientific view of the forest. The walk ends at the Barron Falls train station. Best of all the walkway is free.
