Lake Somerset Holiday Park

Noisy speedboats towing skiers, jet skis, , no tv reception, poor mobile phone and Internet coverage, not much wild life around. Not a patch on Lake Wivenhoe.

Ok it's election night and we have paid the $50 bond for a cable tv connection.... Well, we get all of 6 out of 10 channels working and no sound on Sky News. Rang reception to enquire but even Telstra can't string a call together here so we gave up after 3 dropouts in 3 minutes.

Its quite a walk to the refuse disposal point from the powered sites ......you'd think there could be a couple of wheelie bins nearby. Positively, they do have a dump point.

You can buy a "cabin here" starting at $155,000.... which would appear to include a fair old profit margin for the park ....and then you then you pay $350 to $450 a month in electricity and other fees and never own the land its on. They do advise you that it's not an investment. Naturally not too many "cabins" have been built to date. Wonder if the operators are surprised.

Previous reviewers have mentioned noise from unpowered camp sites quite correctly.

On the positive, this is a lovely location. There are fish cleaning facilities and ample toilet facilities.

The dam is amazing.Beautiful I must say. I found it a very clean park overall..Where it fails at the moment I am in the power sites in our tent. I have 3 children 1 is a 1 year old. Our area is across from the non power sites. There in the process of having a party.. The music is so loud they are screaming and singing. If the music was for there own hearing and not the parks I would not complain. I have rang the office which is closed. So whats the point of having this a family park. If there is no one to help make it suitable for all? I will not return. Fishing if u don't. have a boat u get to fish along the walkway in the non shaded area..which has jet ski's,boats and canoes constantly going past u..they have no camping areas because that's the areas for the boats.. Why are u allowing boats etc in this area?? Where do u expect anyone without a boat to fish? This is not a family park..it's a party park.. The amount of beauty and money in this park for the fun at heart with a boat. I will never return. I travelled for this. If u can't run it right don't run it.

Nice place to relax pricing was alright we stayed in powered camping, desk staff weren't very welcoming or helpful. Nice and clean bathrooms playground would be better in upgraded we enjoyed feeding a possum of the night but we went when it was quiet and didn't enjoy being right next to people. And people arriving late at night.

We stayed in the villas over long weekend as didnt want to struggle with the cold of winter in a tent. The villas had the most amazing view and were in a beautiful quiet spot away from the other campers.
Villas are new and stylish with full kitchen (microwave is a convection oven /grill also as there is no oven) and all the cooking utensils provided. Suprised that toiletries were provided too. washer and drier in each unit and a fire drum provided too.
the view from the main bedroom is of the lake and is just ebautiful - even is a view from the loo!

We were able to check in a little earlier than 2 pm which was great. The park is being divided into day areas and campers so in the near future if you guests coming for the day they will not be able to drive to were you are - they need to walk in or get picked up.

we had a fantastic time on the water - dropped the redclaw pots in although didnt get any as maybe our sunlight soap boat wasnt too appealing!

Would definately stay here again although if you go in the mid or premium season the cost is a lot higher. lower rates for sun-thurs.

Room Tip: we stayed in villa 1 which was a disabled access villa - got a bit messy with the diability shower...

We camped here in school holidays- 25th-27th June 2013. Pity the beauty of this place was spoilt by constant road building for the private chalets, right beside the camp ground. Our whole stay was filled with deafening roadworks. Yes I understand the concept of on going maintenance blah blah, but a heads up would have been appreciated....I wouldn't have come. Maybe these upgrades could be carried out in off peak non school holiday times? A complaint to management was treated with disinterest.

Just like to say wow! We have a terrific time being our first visit of many more to come.
The staff were friendly, especially the elderly man and lady in the office on our arrival. The yardman cleaning the BBQ was a bit grumpy and only cleaned the BBQ plate and not the surrounds which really needed a good clean. It is a very big area for camping and the grounds were nicely mowed and the toilet and shower block was nice and clean. My only complain is that too many other people have found this fantastic spot.

Hello just had the weekend at lake somerset great in the fact that it had plenty of space to camp without being on top of each other until of course the Caboolture 4 wheel drive club turned up and decided to camp on top of use, plenty of open space for them to go but know they had to park on top us a group of ten not really caring that they blocked out view or that they were camping rigth next us with a young family very disappointed in the fact that is wasn't busy so they had plenty of choices to camp elswhere. This time of the year Lake Sumerset is a great spot.
