“Abba-salutely Fabulous!”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

We recently spent a very enjoyable evening at the Magnetic Island Stage Door Theatre Restaurant. From the very pleasant 20 minute ferry ride from the Townsville mainland to the warm welcome at the door by talented comedic stars Bernadette Smith and Phill Stephens, the night just got better. The ABBA parody was hugely entertaining complete with witty repartee, innuendo and one-liners. Not for the faint hearted, the show is in turn crude, rude, vulgar and irreverent but most of all, uproariously hilarious. The singing and dancing was top notch. The food isn't too shabby either, comprising of a simple entree of bread and a trio of dips, a substantial and delicious main course of either a pork chop or chicken breast with vegetables followed by hazelnut gelato or pavlova dessert. Thoroughly entertaining and highly recommended.

“REALLY FUN, CRAZY, HAPPY HOLIDAY ENTERTAINMENT”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

This is a really unique venue - live (absolutely hysterical) stage show and good food.
You kind of sit 'with everyone' but thats half the fun and you may be chosen 'as a volunteer' to go on stage ...that's the other half of the fun. I think its only open on weekends but its really a hilarious night out on this tiny island. And the two stars are just that - incredibly talented and raucous. Don't miss it.

This is a great night out. A great meal and wonderful entertainment and very reasonably priced. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I have taken interstate and international visitors and they have all loved the night out.

“Dinner and a show!”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

Located in Arcadia on Magnetic Island it was quite easy to catch the bus to the venue. The three course dinner consisted of bread and dips for the first course, pork chop or chicken breast (both with vegetables) for the second course. Dessert was served during the show's intermission and was either a sticky date pudding or a fruity meringue. Overall the food was good.
The show was entitled "Forbidden Broadway III" and was a pantomime of a number of Broadway shows interspersed with crowd banter. The entire production was performed by two people with a number of catchy tunes.
All in all it was a wonderful experience!

“Very fun evening - and a great meal too!”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

We went along for the "Forbidden Broadway" show, and paid $60 each rather than $75 as we are Accor Club members. We caught the bus from the ferry terminal to and from the show. A 3-course meal is included - (well, the entree is just bread & dips, but very nice) and our mains and desserts were both excellent! Wine, beer & other drinks are available at reasonable bar prices.

The show is hilarious, very well done, and fun. Bernadette Smith has a wonderful singing voice, and Phill Stephens is good too, especially in the lower ranges. He is a great comedic actor - what a character! In addition to the Broadway theme, they cover The Wizard of Oz - very funny and well done.

There were about 30 in the audience on the night we attended - I think that was close to capacity, so it's a friendly, casual, intimate feel. They recommend no kids under 13 - I'm not sure there was anyone even under 53 there - but it was really only PG rated, kids hear much more innuendo in movies.
