We stayed here for a night in November 2009 on a trip through western Queensland. My first impression was that it was a fair way out of town which is a bit annoying if you're like me and you like to get up early and go for a walk through the town centre. You really need to drive from the motel to town. Mayfair was only built a couple of years ago according to the staff at the front desk and it is very easy on the eye. Upon arrival we were given two free drink tickets (but you had to buy a main meal at the attached restaurant first - there's no such thing as a free drink anymore it seems).
I was very disappointed to discover we had been placed in a disabled room without our consent. My only problem with this is that the shower is inevitably like a "wet room" - I was unimpressed that they hadn't mentioned any of this to us. Apart from that the room was clean (you'd expect nothing less for a new motel) and the beds and pillows very comfortable. We didn't have any problems with the room - the airconditioning was working and the wide selection of cable TV channels was good.
We decided to go down to the motel's restaurant and use our drink tickets that evening and I must say that it was the best restaurant I have been to in a good while. The service was absolutely amazing, the beer cold, and the food delicious. It really was worth every cent and I would go back to the restaurant even if I didn't stay at the motel again. It's so good to see top quality service at a country restaurant.
