“Ideal accommodations for birders”

In a 43-day trip across from Cairns to Broome, I, my wife, and our two friends did not find a better place to stay. The rooms were great, breakfasts were outstanding, and it is hard to imagine any hosts being more helpful than Trish and Andrew. The location is convenient and very quiet. Best of all, standing by our front door, we saw a bird in the yard's pool a bird (Little Kingfisher) that we saw nowhere else in Australia!

We had three nights at Red Mill House recently, the rooms were great, the breakfast was wonderful, but most of all the hosts were charming, personable and full of hospitality, they really made us feel at home. With so many positive reviews on Trip Advisor what more can I say, except that I am going back as soon as I can :-)

Room Tip: Our group of three had an upstairs room and a downstairs room, both were good.

Red mill house is a wonderful bed and breakfast accommodation in the tiny town of daintree, queensland. Our beautiful room overlooked a tropical garden, full of birds and wildlife with a very welcome salt-water swimming pool to relax in at the end of a hot day out. Our hosts, Andrew and Trish, were friendly, helpful and a pleasure to be with over our six day stay. We highly recommend Red mill house to anyone with an interest in wildlife, visiting the area.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms catch the breeze and have a lovely view but you can get closer to the garden down...

We just returned from a three night stay at the Red Mill and this was a wonderful place to stay. While the selection of places to stay in Daintree is limited, the owners, Trish and Andrew went out of their way to make their place feel like your place. Our room was simply stated and comfortable and we had an outside porch where we sipped our afternoon wine, ate breakfast and just hug out on the outskirts of the rainforest. They assisted us in selecting itineraries, welcomed us when we came back in each day, served the best breakfast every day and even offered to make dinner (for a small fee) so we did not have to go out after a long day. When we go back, this is where we will stay again!

Room Tip: When making a reservation, inform the owners who will be with you and they will recommend the best r...

Just had two nights here as part of our N Queensland trip, but wished we had booked to stay for longer. Right from the minute we arrived, Trish and Andrew made us feel so welcome and their knowledge and obvious love for their home and loca area shines through. This is a very sociable place to stay and my only very small negative is that the upstairs rooms don't feel very private, but that wasn't an issue for us. We loved sitting out on the verandah with a beer listening to the birds and frogs. Waking up really early with the birds and being able to wander along and make a cuppa was great. As to the breakfast, this was probably the best I have had anywhere in a long time! Wonderful fresh fruit, homemade juice, homemade yoghourt which was amazing, with cereals. Fully cooked breakfast followed by toast and lovely homemade jam and marmalade and as much coffee or tea as you could manage - fantastic relaxed start to the day. Trish went the extra mile in helping us plan our limited time in the area and we really feel we made the most of everything. Thanks guys and if we are ever back in the area we will most certainly come again. Very highly recommend.

This was the best place we stayed during our east coast road trip of one month. The hosts are so friendly and know a great deal about the environment, thus could advise us very well. What we liked a lot about this place was the tranquility. Going to sleep with the sound of birds and waking up with that sound again is lovely. It is a place to rest and de-stress. Oh and I did not even tell you about the breakfast. Tropical fruits you will not get at any other hotel and everything homemade. Lovely! I wish I could already go back there. Unfortunately this time it will be in my dreams....

We were only in Northern Queensland for a short time, and we knew that it would be difficult to visit and appreciate all the amazing attractions that the area has to offer in just a few days. Trish and Andrew sincerely care about their guests and went to every effort to ensure we were able to get the most out of our holiday. Whether we were after peaceful relaxation, or advice on our next adventure, Trish & Andrew were always more than happy to help in every way, organising our bookings and providing helpful advice. This caring nature is apparent in the way that they present the Red Mill House. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and were treated to local teas and coffees, and fresh produce from the region. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of frogs croaking & waking up to birds chirping. The location is a perfect midway to access both the reef and the rainforest. We are looking forward to our next visit!
