Having been to Daintree several times, we've always taken friends and family to the Daintree Ice Cream Company to enjoy their tropical delights. Unfortunately, a tour van had just arrived so we decided to give Floravilla a try.
What a disappointment! While the listing of flavours boasted on their sign is quite extensive, visitors should not be deceived -- the range if flavours you can actually order is minimal. The ice creams come prep packed in little tubs, with a surprisingly small selection of tropical fruit tastes (very disappointing, since so many tourists come to far North Queensland in search of exotic natural flavours).
Unlike the Daintree Ice Cream Company, at Floravilla you only get to try one flavour for 5 dollars (DICC gives you the chance to try four mini scoops of the flavours of the day). Mine was gritty and grainy, and one of our visitors disliked theirs so much that the majority of it went into the rubbish bin.
Bottom line: for a true tropical refresher, visit the Daintree Ice Cream Company instead of Floravilla.
