We live locally in Port Douglas & this resort is well respected & admired within the community but we never had the chance to stay there until now!

All I can say is "Oh My God!" what a fantastic experience.
The rooms are perched high off the ground amongst the treetops & are really unique. The first thing I noticed was the tiles which seemed to keep the room cool & were so smooth on the feet. The bamboo canopy over our bed was a lovely touch & the huge compendium kept us enthralled for hours with all its history, local area info & aboriginal influences that are clearly all over the resort.
These rooms arent like your average souless five star room...they are have clearly been designed to the environment. Lourvered windows allow you to open the whole space up to make it light and breezy or you can close them to create your own private space..the spa on the balcony was great!

This is 'intelligent luxury' & an experience in itself.

To sleep with the sound of a flowing stream practically underneath us was sublime. If you want rainforest...this is as good as it gets.

We strolled down for dinner which was fantastic. A mix of modern Australian dishes with most been able to be made as a vegetarian option...nice work. I had my facial with Dale the next day in the spa and it was the best Ive ever had...seriously.
They have there own 'Daintree Essentials' product range with huge generous canisters in your room to slather all over your body...

These guys have really nailed it. I finally get the nature - nurture - culture idea now...everyone should have a spa treatment, eat good food etc. Ive had the opportunity to stay in some of the best hotels in the world but this takes the cake for true, authentic eco-luxury. I wish I hadnt left it so long.

ps make sure you do the guided walk in the morning (I had a facial instead) ...my partner came back with clay all over their arms & said it was the most 'spiritual' experience they had had!

We were taken by surprise in this unique property, the site was an easy trip from the airport at cairns and one of the most beautiful coastal road trips we have ever experienced.

The staff were fantastic and really made the difference for our stay of three nights in this tropical utopia.

We happily recommend and would revisit.

Our 10th wedding anniversary deserved a special weekend away. $2200 for 2 nights (accommodation, 2 evening meals and 2x spa treatments) in the 'exclusive' and award winning eco lodge sounded perfect.

We found our rainforest treehouse to be on ground floor level next to a path which meanders to a nearby waterfall. A bus load of teenage tourists kindly broke our peace for an hour as they walked back and forth and then proceeeded to overtake the restaurant. Hardly the 'peaceful, exclusive, rejuvanating' retreat we were promised. The path was also in full view of our balcony jacuzzi, and as adequate screening was not provided, we felt unable to use this feature.

The treehouse itself - the bathroom sliding door fell off it's hinges, the tiles were filthy dirty and cracked, the CD player was faulty, the bed rock hard - all in all, certainly not conducive to a romantic weekend for two.

The spa treatments were OK but certainly nothing spectacular (and the fact that they are performed in what amounts to a tin hut outside next to the car park , again ruins the moment when you hear cars pulling in to park as you are having a massage).

The eco lodge has one small saving grace - their restaurant. The food was suberb. Unfortunately, the service was not. The 'candlelit' dinner for two which was prearranged to take place on a 'secluded' part of the property had been completely forgotten when we arrived to dine. Following this, we had the pleasure of a wait person who was a sullen and rude individual with absolutely no social skills whatsoever.

How on earth this particular establishment has managed to secure such a strong reputation beggars belief. We are fortunate to have stayed at some wonderful 5* locations all over the world and this is most certainly NOT one of them.

We would NOT recommend this establishment.

If you are interested in staying in the most beautiful setting on Earth, this is the place for you! First, let me attempt to describe the location. Daintree EcoLodge is situated in the heart of the Daintree rainforest in northern Queensland, Australia. It is the oldest rainforest on Earth. It is on the eastern coast, which is home to the Great Barrier Reef. It is tropical with a capital T. The beauty and lushness of this part of the world is beyond description. It is nestled between ancient volcanic peaks and one of the most scenic coastlines that you will ever find. It is nowhere near any big city, and the sounds you will hear are those of the rainforest. Nature-lovers will be in awe here.
Now on to the accomodations. Daintree EcoLodge has fifteen treehouse villas. That's it. This is not the Marriott. To be fair, the villas are not true treehouses, however, they are constructed on stilts, which puts them up into the forest canopy. We stayed in a villa which was built so that the balcony ( screened in, with a jacuzzi ) faced directly into the forest. You really feel as if you are staying in a treehouse. The villa was beautifully furnished, we especially liked the super-comfy bed with lace canopy. There was a refrigerator stocked with all types of drinks, including spirits. You have a nice TV with DVD player. The owners have even thoughtfully put guides for identifying wildlife in the villas.( and you will see wildlife ) The bathroom was spacious with a nice large shower with plenty of hot water. Suffice to say, the villas are lovely.
There is a restaurant on the property which is amazing. I honestly had the best meal of my entire life there! Five star. It is built with an outdoor dining area that is over a beautiful rainforest pond and waterfall. Across the pond is a small stage where four of the local aboriginals put on a traditional dance show one evening. Every morning includes complimentary breakfast ( not the usual continental muffins and doughnuts ) which is not to be missed. Trails extend outward from the restaurant, one of which takes you up through the rainforest to a spectacular waterfall. Just up from the restaurant is the spa area, with swimming pool and therapeutic equipment. Every day the staff goes out into the forest and gathers tropical flowers which they use to adorn the spa area and the individual villas. It is truly a paradise.
In summary, this was the most amazing place we have ever stayed. It makes Hawaii look barren by comparison. It is off the beaten path a bit, and a bit expensive, but if you need tranquility this is the ultimate.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and spent the day at the Daintree Eco Spa and Lodge in Tropical North Queensland. We could not beleive how beatiful it was, truly magical. We were emersed in nature and treated like royalty. Five Star service!

The most luxurious spa treatment I have ever experienced. You should see the before and after spa shots! A sensual journey!

We followed up the spa with lunch in the restaurant, nestled in the forest.

Can't wait to return for longer next time.

I recently stayed at the Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa as a surprise for my wife, and boy was she surprised!! The attention to detail and the friendliness of the staff has set this apart from other places we have stayed prior. We took the advice of the staff on arrival and experienced the rainforest on a 4WD safari, the Aboriginal Cultural aspects with the experiences they offer, the wildlife on an evening river cruise, and of course the ultimate in pampering and definetly the aspect that places this property as a definite MUST DO again... the Day Spa!! We found the service relaxed and friendly which we like much more than then staff trying too hard to be 5 star service with no personality. There was a new head chef in the restaurant and my gosh was the food great!!! All in all, we loved our time in the Daintree and at the property... a word of advice to others... do use your time to create a balance of exploring and relaxation... the girls in reception are great at suggesting itineraries... and pre-book before you arrive, as the Day Spa books out!!

Incredible place so peaceful. Sleeping under the canopy of the rainforest was magical. Staff were so friendly and the food was AAA. Had a treatment in the spa that made me feel like a king. Well worth a visit. Will be back.
