“Nice quainte place in the rainforest”
Reviewed September 29, 2012 via mobile

I stayed in a lodge room for one night. This place is good if a quiet low key getaway to the rianforrest is what you are looking for.

be aware that this place doesn't have creature comforts. No tv, no wifi, not much to do at night but sit on the amazing decks overlooking the river and Forrest. I did take the hour long river cruise at 330 as well. It was fun - saw a couple crocs and quite a few birds. Oh and a python. Our guide lex was fun, very personable.

Rooms are basic and clean with a fridge. shared BBQ/kitchen on the deck for cooking. There is a couple restaurants across the road to eat as well.

We arrived here on spec and loved it so much we stayed 3 nights instead of our intended one night. Sally, the manager made us most welcome and was very helpful in explaining everything. Although the lodge rooms are small, they are comfortable and clean, with an ensuite. The lodge rooms face out onto a large covered balcony with communal cooking facilities, tables, chaires and lounges and a magnificant outlook over the Daintree River where crocodiles can be sometimes seen swimming upstream. Daintree Village is a small tranquill locality and no bustle from the normal tourist haunts makes this a great place to experience the area and a base for travelling around. Great meals can be had at the restaurant across the road which also doubles as the general store. No TV is a blessing as that would ruin the relaxed lodge style. The deck is a great place to meet fellow travellers or just to phase out, watch the river and forget the bustle of life (which I needed). I would highly recommend the lodge for couples or singles who appreciate peace and quiet. Bear in mind that all the rooms open out onto a large communal deck which does limit privacy. Many thanks Sally for a most enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: The rooms get a little hot in the afternoon but a small blast with the aircon will soon fix this and...

Not swish, no wi-fi, no bar, no restaurant and mood lighting is just the sunset...i'd be happy to spend a week here as a base to see the Daintree Heritage area.

The lodge is 6 or 7 small rooms attached to a caravan site and overlooking the Daintree river. Rooms are basic but absolutely adequate for the purpose and each has a double bed and full on-suite facilities.

All rooms open on a delightful large veranda with tables, comfy chairs and full cooking facilities. The veranda is perfect place for cooking and eating...complete with drinks and excellent conversation.

Breakfast with the bird life is a treat...the evening wildlife show is made up of birds, geckos green tree frogs and tiny little frogs about the size of a 10 cent coin. There are a couple restaurants and a pub cross the road. Bird and wildlife spotting boats leave from the extensive river front grounds.

No swimming in the river as a large crocodile claims the area in front of the lodge as his territory!!

We stayed here over the Easter weekend in the lodge. Rooms were very basic but clean, location was great and the deck was a lovely spot in the evenings. Only complaint was that we booked what was meant to be an air-conditioned room to find it not to be. Was very disappointing as those rooms catch all the afternoon sun and were very hot! next time I think we'll just spend $10 instead and camp - much cooler! Managers were very nice also.

A pl;easant place to stay. We were holidaying in Cairns and got a rental car so were able to amble up via Port Doiuglas and Mossman Gorge - both places worth visiting. We stayed 2 nights. The present managment have been there about a year and claim to have re-organised things for the better. They were very pleasant and helpful.
The rooms were basic but adequate. The wide veranah with bench for cooking/eating, , tea and coffee and just relaxing was a great feature - overlooking the river and spenind time trying to see crocs. This also gave the opportunity to chat with others if you wanted to.
From here they organised for us to go on the Crocodile Express - $20 (Snrs) for two separate hours at two separate locations - river-ride. A much better deal than the $40 for 2 hr single trip - according to people we spoke to. They also organised for us to go on the 8 wheek drive argo - a great bone shaking experience - my friend was 80 yrs and coped with it.
There is a local place across the road to eat at in the eveing - the only one avaialbe on the spot. Staff have a very off-hand manner. Some food OK but avoid the spagetti bolognaise. If you have a car you can go further afield to eat a few Kms away. eg. The Eco-Lodge - a bit expensive at night but very competitive and pleasant for a lunch stop. - Great setting and good food.
Overall glad we did this stint and would recommend staying at Daintree Riverview.

The en suite rooms are basic but clean. We loved the views from the deck. Also appreciated the kitchen area. The hosts were very friendly and extremely helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
