I stayed one night in the Seaview Motel prior to a tour. I had an economy room, which is around the back of the motel and up on a hill. There was covered parking there and the room had a nice view. The motel gives you some internet time as well. Overall, the room was fine...nothing fancy, but clean and the bed was comfortable.

I stayed at the Seaview in a deluxe room as I do for a business trip each year. Rooms are very clean, but are really just a normal motel rooms. Nice views across the road to the water, but the price at $175 per night is perhaps right at the upper level of reasonable value. Staff are always good but note that no cooked breakfast is available in house,

The Seaview Motel has fabulous views over the Endeavour River and for this reason alone is worth the stay. However this is not justification for prices charged for Deluxe rooms. Even allowing for the fact that Cooktown is remote and therefore one could expect to pay premium prices, $175 a night is way over the top for what is essentially a motel room and by far the most expensive motel room we've stayed in. The major difference it seems between a semi self-contained room ($130 a night) and a deluxe room is a private balcony and a flat screen tv. In fact the self-contained rooms could arguably be said to have better views over the river. Having said all that, it is the only place to stay in Cooktown with views of the river and they are certainly breathtaking.

Room Tip: If privacy is not an issue, for better views and value for money the semi self-contained rooms may b...

This motel has the most stunning views of the Endeavour River. We had overnight accommodation, clean and comfortable just an older type of room but the views from our shared patio were magnificent we were blessed with gorgeous weather also which certainly added to the occassion. Friendly reception staff nice to be greeted by a smile after travelling. Had a relaxing swim in the pool and laze on the sun chairs to finish my day off. Within walking distance of restaurants and town and a short drive up to the lighthouse for some more ocean and river views.

Room Tip: Ask for room with river views

The Seaview is in a great position on the waterfront. I had a partly self contained room, with a bar fridge and microwave that was very clean and comfortable. It was lovely to have a beautiful river view also. The staff were friendly and I was able to leave my bags at reception after checking out as I waited for the return bus to Cairns. My only gripe was that during my stay of 3 nights there were smokers next door who smoked on the 'communal balcony' area in front of my room. This meant that on occasion I was forced to shut my windows. Otherwise, a good choice for a stay in charming Cooktown.

We stayed here for one night in the deluxe room. From reading the other reviews, it seems our mistake might have been not requesting a room with a view. Ours looked onto the parking lot. The room itself was huge, tiled floors but very basic. The bathroom too. Both were impeccably clean.

But the price was exhorbitant given how basic it all was. It did the trick for us but we would have felt less ripped off had it been less expensive.

We stayed in one of the garden rooms. These were older style rooms, but were clean, comfortable and had everything you would need. The fact that it opened onto a shared garden area with BBQ was nice and was better than having a private balcony. The views over the Endeavour River were outstanding. The room cost $110 which was excellent value, especially when compared to terrible accommodation elsewhere on the Cape York Peninsula that cost way more.
