We stayed at the Seaview Motel - we were worried that we would be given a upstairs room. As my husband and I have a little problem with walking . We were so pleased when we asked what room had they booked for us and it was a ground floor one. Directly looking out onto Endeavour Bay.
Beautiful! The rooms are clean and coffee and tea facilities were on hand but you are unable to cook in the rooms other than use a toaster and the electric jug. If you use the toast away from the kitchen the fire alarm will go off. (We know it makes a lot of noise) If you have WFi Internet connection, they supply one free connection every day that you stay.No cost to you.
Early morning you sit outside with your coffee and just admire the view as the water leaves the sand bars exposed and the fishermen are going to the wharf to go out for a days fishing. They have a swimming pool, Outdoor tables to sit at or eat, also a Bar-bu-que and if your car is dirty they even supply an area to clean your car! The Sunsets over the Bay are just wonderful

Room Tip: If you have a handicap you don't want to carry your bags to far around the complex. (Stairs) Ask...

Stayed 5 nights in the disabled access suite. Good size very clean room with views of the Waterfront and esplanade. Terrific sunset views from the balcony every night. Cook town has lots of interesting history, and is a good base for exploring Laura, Hopevale and upper daintree.

Stayed here before in Semi s/c rooms that are in dire need of renovations. This time stayed in Deluxe room that looked great at first glance. Soon discovered the floor hadn't been swept or mopped, sand and dust all over. We had to wipe down the veranda furniture so our clothes wouldn't be stained by the red dust that the road kicks up. Make-up on pillow cases and bed cushions stained. Exposed power socket on veranda. Glad we didn't have kids with us. Nice location and view let down by not doing a few finishing touches that guests appreciate.

After a long bike ride this was just the perfect spot to take a rest. Very quiet rooms despite the fact that they are close to the street. The rooms are clean and comfy. Wonderful view over the bay, just perfect to sit in front of one's room and to watch the sunset. I could have easily spent another night there ...

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper row have the best view.

Only having been to Cooktown once before, years ago, was unsure of where would be a good spot. We chose The Seaview Motel because of the location & the images on their website showed modern, spacious rooms.
We stayed for two nights & enjoyed our stay. Location was brilliant, right on the waterfront, could look out over the River from the doorway. Most rooms were fairly the same, although we were on the ground level, other rooms were a little higher up the hill. But, being on the ground level, we still had a excellent view.
The room was spacious with a double & single bed in the room and still had plenty of space. A small bench just outside the bathroom, housed the tea/coffee making facilities with the bar fridge just underneath [a little on the 'older' side, but still in good working order]. The Bathroom was tidy, although the space for the Shower was quite spacious. Tap in Bathroom needed a little up-dating and the shower head, if placed the wrong way, had a slight drip...but, once you moved it around a little to remove the excess water & closed the bathroom door, with the Air/Con on, you were able to sleep well.
Double bed was firm & was clean & tidy. Television worked well and considering only one main light, which was situated on the wall above the TV, the room was quite well lit. There was a bedside lamp for extra light as well.
The area out the front of the ground level rooms, was mainly lawn which housed some tables & chairs, which were perfect for an afternoon drink as you watched the Sun set.
We noticed in Cooktown, you talked to people WITH Nets [& fishing gear], rather than talking ON the Net...Was nice to see people out enjoying the environment instead of having their heads stuck in their phones.

Older and dated style typical country town motel, but clean & comfortable. The best location in Cooktown with views over the river & bay. Great place to sit outside your room & watch the sunset at the end of the day. Would return if we are in Cooktown again.

Over the past 10 years my wife an I have stayed at the Seaview and loved it. Stayed there at the beginning of August and the simple clean room we always enjoyed was now $130 a night, the breakfast room the next morning was"not available today" and the care factor of all staff was zero. To add insult to disappointment check-in time is an inflexible 2.00pm. and nobody gives a hoot whether you're local or not. Disappointment factor-10 out fo 10

Room Tip: Stay at the Sovereign
