Reviewed May 26, 2013

A great place to get wonderful views of cooktown and out to the great barrier reef. Take some lunch and have a picnic up there. it's very beautiful. Be prepared to be blown tobits up there though. It's a VERY windy place,.

“360 degree views to die for”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

360 degree views are out of this world and Sunsets and Sunrises should not be missed and if lucky enough to have the lookout to yourself so peaceful and reflective. The ever present breeze is magic on a hot and humid day.

“Fantastic View! But very very windy”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Easily accessible by vehicle directly behind township.
Popular with excercising walkers as well.
Car and bus parking. Loop roadway around top to allow access for Wheelchair and disabled, with circular paved ramp up to top solid paved viewing platform area (with metal frame and glass panels).
Ramp & Platform Decorated by community with named Bricks inlaid next to path as recognition of donors.
Allows views in all direction(360 degrees).
Can be very windy location though due to its elevation and exposure to pacific coast.
Well worth a visit. No costs for access or entry.

“Follow the tracks of Captain Cook”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

It was reported that Captain Cook climbed grassy hill to chart his journey out through the reefs and after climbing the hill its easy to see why, the view is amazing and it's also easy to see why everyone refers to Cooktown as windy Cooktown! Fantastic views and an old light house sits on top as well. Looking south-east you can see the infamous reefs that Cook encountered and looking west you can see the Endeavour River weaving its way in to the hinterland. Again amazing if you see this through the eyes of the miners who turned up in their thousands to walk to the Palmer River diggings inland back in the 1840/50s.

A must see is the drive up to Grassy Hill for 360 deg views of the Ocean, Endeavour River, Cooktown itself and the hinterland. One of the best lookouts I have every been to.
