We had never been 'caving'before. Wildlife Ranger provided head lights and he was informative and knowledgeable.

Our guide Bob was nice and helpful and full of facts. The caves are worth every penny. Hanging rock was great and the Kooboora cemetery was a little sad. Almaden pub is the place to stop on the way to Chillagoe best homemade pies and sausage rolls.

Pictures just can't do justice to the caves-- you really have to see them for yourself. Definitely do all 3 caves if you're going, as they all have unique features (plus, you drove all that way, you might as well make the most of it!) Donna & Trezkinn are similar, but you will likely have the same rangers for all 3 tours, and they might not repeat all the information at Trezkinn (the second cave). Royal Arch is completely different from the first two. All of the caves have interesting stories that your guide will hopefully tell you about! Our rangers-- Dan and Eddie-- were absolutely great. Dan had a really interesting sense of humour, which we enjoyed. The tours were also very informative-- I *finally* learned a way to remember stalactites vs. stalagmites.

As a side note, a group from Billy Tea Safaris joined us at Royal Arch, but they only stayed for half the tour and missed all the best parts! IMO you should try to come on your own, if you can.

Probably the reason you came to Chillagoe anyway. Well worth the visit. A reasonable amount of climbing up & down steel stair/ladders in the caves, so moderate fitness needed. Altogether an enjoyable experience.
