“Fantastic little museum!”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Just off the main street and easy to find. Go and learn how to pan for gold on the front veranda. Commendations to the family who own this private collection that they have turned into a museum for the wonderful exhibits they share with the public in this restored miners cottage. Well worth the $5 entry fee.

“Bit disappointing”
Reviewed July 10, 2014

Not great with children, it's too small and overloaded - it just turns into a "don't touch" excursion. There are lots of fantastic things to look at but it's too overcrowded to take it in. The gold panning is also cramped in on a small balcony when there is a small garden available but not used.

“Great Place!”

Museum & old time photos were interesting. Had a gold panning lesson with Allan & found a small piece of gold, good fun, prompted us to buy a pan for ourselves to try...who knows? Thank you Allan...

“Informative and Fun”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

The miners cottage is a museum detailing the gold rush years and so much more. We spent ages there, drinking our free cup of tea and learning about how the miners would use the creeks and their pans to check for gold. We could also have a go and if we found any, we could keep it!
Its a fascinating look at a bygone era and highly recommended
