PK's Jungle Village

The staff were very friendly and helpful (both the reception & bar/restaurant). I stayed in a 4 bed dorm and all the room had in it was 4 beds. No lockers or shelves for belongings. The mattresses & pillows really need replacing as they are not very comfortable. The bathrooms are very old and run down with chipped tiles & broken bench tops. The water temperature & pressure in the shower was great though. The pool was nice and cold, perfect to cool you down on a hot summers day. The bar/restaurant seems to be the place the locals hang out so it gets quite busy in the afternoon/evening. The food was really nice and service was quick & efficient. This place also has beach access which is great. Next door is a mini supermarket which is great for self-catering.

Just come back from a holiday in FNQ and spent the weekend in Cape Tribulation. Wish we could have stayed longer as there is so much to do. The Daintree forest was absolutely spectacular and the discovery walk was quite informative and interesting. We stayed at PK's, where the staff were very friendly and unselfish...(we got drunk and were looking for water in the middle of the night, when one of the staff members gave us bottles of water from his sleeping quarters). The rooms were liveable, and gardens were well maintained with pleasant atmosphere. Minutes walk from beautiful beaches and swimming holes. I would highly recommend staying at PK's and look forward to coming back!

I live on one of the beaches just outside Cairns and I decided, on days off recently, to shoot up to Cape Trib for a couple of nights. Having not anticipated or planned the trip, I didn't have a giant wad of savings to call upon, so went with the backpacker option. It catered to my needs perfectly.
If you're looking for a cheap place to put your bags down while you explore the wilderness of Cape Tribulation and get involved with some of the local activities, this is the place. The convenience of the local amenities is probably unrivalled in this fairly remote part of Australia, and all of the local tours know PK's well and are happy to pick you up from there if need be. Plus, great swimming holes, beaches and walking tracks are all within a stone's throw.
There's a great vibe around the campsite/cooking facilities a bit later in the evening, if you're looking to meet some travellers and swap stories and talk rubbish! If you want to party, the Jungle Bar is there - but I wasn't into that, and the noise coming from there never reached my room.
If you're looking for a spotless, modern, beautifully furnished and luxurious place to stay in the rainforest - this is not it! But then, you wouldn't be paying $28 per night for that, would you... I'm very surprised by some of the negativity of the reviews here!

The room was dirty and smelled like mold. I understand it's a tropical area and it's hard not to get mold...but I'm from a tropical very humid country and have never been to a hostel/hotel/accomodation with such a bad mold smell. NOT AN EXCUSE!!! One night was enough...The positive thing is that cape tribulation is great (loved jungle surfing) and the pizza at PK's restaurant is really good.

We stayed in Pk's Village for two nights with a campervan, and some people in Cairns reccomended the camping to us. The first impression we had about this camping is that it was paradise in the middle of the jungle, but it was only the first impression. We soon discovered the camping was quite dirty and very poor in hygiene, specially in the common areas such as the kitchen and the bathrooms. There is a big cock around the camping, and he is the one to clean the kitchen since it eats everything!! Don't leave anything within the fridge, it's sooooooo dirty ! and when you happen to have a shower, or need to go to the toilet, be sure you wear slippers with you and your own shampoo and towels. The good thing about this camping is that the staff is very kind, and it has direct access to Myall Beach, it's wonderful. You only need 10 minutes to walk to Cape Tribulation Beach, and there you find the paradise on earth! The camping has a supermarket, but it's extremely expensive, so be sure you can buy at any other supermarket in Port Douglas, for example. It's not so expensive...

About 15 drunken backpackers screaming in the camping area, picking fights until 3AM when we had to pick up our tent and move it. Not one person from PKs around to say anything to them. Absolutely the worst camping experience of my life. The camp sites are also tiny, just big enough for a car and a tent and all in a row with nothing attractive at all. But the food was ok. I'm not very picky and I've done the backpacker thing on long trips. But I hated this place. In fact, we forfeited our 25$ for the next night which we had paid and they wouldn't refund and drove back home the next day. I would never ever consider giving this place another try. Noah Beach on the other hand is just down the road. I'd go there.

Hi guys,
We would like to apoligise that your stay was so uncomfortable for you.
New management have taken over Pk's Jungle, and we aim to make a number of changes.

Thus including the presentation, noise levels, and general demenour of the resort.

Due to the isolation of the resort it is hard to control noise levels at 3am in the morning, but we plan to implement a system where a responsible manager, will be dealing with complaints.

Our apologies again.

Yours Truly
PKs Management
