We were picked up at Cape Tribulation Beach House, which was an interesting place to visit, we got there early so had lunch, very friendly.
The pick up was punctual we were taken to the ranch and asked about our experience level, weight etc, they had boots and helmets and if raining there were raincoats available too. The staff explained so much about what to expect, if not feeling comfortable to say, etc. We rode through the rainforest. going into trot a couple of times and arrived at the beach, Tom was leading the ride, asked if we would like to canter and off we went, he controlled the ride very well. All the time the lead rider checked on us and the rear rider was keeping the rest of the riders well cared for, I was very impressed. I am a certified horseback riding instructor, have my own horse and was very pleased that the horses were well cared for and the staff were aware of riders limitations and stayed with them. Everyone had a fantastic time. On return to the ranch we watched as the horses had their tack taken off and were turned out to pasture. Lush green fields. A very happy place :)

*** Cape Tribulation Horse Rides is less concerned with making a dime than they are with the health and well-being of their mounts. Bravo! ***

So my wife and I had made a booking to ride some li'l ol' ponies on the beach and in the rain forest with Cape Trib Horse Rides, but things didn't quite pan out. Come the morning of our ride, Matt from Cape Trib finds us at our predetermined meeting place and informs us that one of our mounts is feeling under the weather. He was very apologetic, and visibly concerned with the welfare and well-being of the horse. Being horse-lovers ourselves, and understanding the gravity of the situation, we understood that it would be irresponsible and unreasonable to be too upset; after all, the health of the horses trumps any excuse to push a ride.

We would have been perfectly fine with a cancellation and a refund (we had paid in full weeks before), but Matt was adamant about taking care of us, and truly went out of his way to ensure that we had a good time during our holiday in Australia. In addition to working for Cape Trib Horse Rides, he is also a manager at the Cape Trib Beach House, and extended an offer to us to join him at the Beach House for dinner and drinks, on the house. We gladly took him up on his offer, and enjoyed a nice, relaxed dinner in the rain forest at his bidding.

Anyone looking for a great experience, try Horse riding with in Cape Tribulation.
The staff were great, very friendly and willing to answer any questions. We were given a horse based on our experience and given a run down on how to ride,we were given the option to trott and canter but weren't forced!!!

Along our ride Tom gave us a
run down of the historical forest and most plants

I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Cairns!!!

For someone who hasn't ridden many horses I was a little reluctant but am so glad I struck the courage and went. Riding on the beach is something else! Steve and crew were professional and the horses seem to be treated well and respected. Recommended.

Apart that this was for an agent Famil - they never came to pick us up?? They went to the wrong area or a different place, although this had been organised well in advance where we were staying?

In response to why you weren't picked up, was that the horse was not informed that there was a famil who ever organised your famil should be spoken to.
