Myself and my husband had a wonderful full day trip to Cooktown with Mike. The approximately 3 hour drive to Cooktown didn't seem that long as we were kept enthralled with Mike's stories and various stops along the way. Some of our favorite stops were the Strangler Fig by the side of the road, (you won't see one like this anywhere else!), The Lions Den Hotel and Archers Point is magnificent! At Archers Point we enjoyed Mikes homecooked cake and biscuits with a cup of tea overlooking the ocean. We arrived in Cooktown and we bought Fish and Chips to eat overlooking the Endeavour River. The fish from Gilled and gutted was first class! We then drove up to Grassy Hill lookout for an incredible view over Cooktown and the ocean. The Cooktown museum was interesting and entry was included in the price of our tour. Bloomfield falls on the way home was beasutiful and there was a croc sunning itself on a rock on the other side of the river! Mike D'Arcy is a wonderful guide and a top bloke and we cannot recommend this tour highly enough.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour which gets you to places that unless you have a four wheel drive and local knowledge you would otherwise miss. Mike is so enthusiastic about the area which shows in his knowledge of the environment. We did do another tour while in Daintree and felt that the other tour guide had the same monologue which he would use for every group. Mike on the other hand was spontaneous and talked on all manner of subjects which we found fascinating. I was a little concerned about the 4wd side of the tour and getting car sick having never done any 4wd before but with regular stops I thoroughly enjoyed the rocky adventure.

This was an enjoyable tour. Michael D'Arcy has done his homework. Mike knows all the best stops along the way for photo ops and is a treasure of background knowledge and information regarding the history, flora and fauna of the area. My wife and I took the tour from Cape Tribulation to Cooktown along the Bloomfield Track, an area that is rich in natural beauty and Australian history. This is a great way to acquaint yourself to the importance and significance of this area. Thoroughly recommend for those travellers who want to learn and experience an area rather than rush through and tick the box.

We used "D'arcy of Daintree Private Tours" to travel up to Cooktown and back.

Yes, we could have done it by ourselves but we would have missed out on so much! Mike asked us at the start what our interests and expectations were and then tailored the day to suit.

He knew all the best photos stops and I know we would have missed them if we have driven the Bloomfield Track ourselves. He was a mine of interesting, interpretive information and local, anecdotal stories. He was well read about the area and passed on this wealth of knowledge.

The day was well paced and gave us a comprehensive insight into the amazing area.

A wonderful day from start to finish. This was our first trip to Australia, and the all day tour with Mike was a trip highlight. We learned a lot about the region and culture, saw some amazingly beautiful sites that we would never have found on our own, and spotted some great wildlife. Mike payed attention to every detail....even bringing delicious home made baked goods along. A definite must do for your trip to the Daintree region!
