Very impressive collection of insects and butterflies. Our host said it is one of the largest in the world with 3 species discovered by the owner, Mr Lamond. Worth a stop on your way back to Port Douglas.

Surprising to discover such an eclectic collection, very thoughtfully displayed. Lovely surroundings too with a stream and BBQ area. Appreciated Trek North Tours taking us there.

The entomological museum is a wonderful place to stop if you're in the area. The collection of insects they have is astonishing, I have never seen a better compilation. The colours of the butterflies and beetles in particular are wondrous. The lady running the shop was most helpful, and gave us a spiel about the man who collected the insects (he also did the art!). We only spent 40 minutes there, as we were pressed for time, but you could certainly spend more! Outside of the museum you can also walk through the butterfly breeding tent, and there's a swimming hole that backs onto a creek with beautiful, hand-laid river stone encompassing a picnic area. A great place to stop and take a dip (or picnic, if you brought your lunch)!
The entry fee is very modest, and overall it was well worth the trip.

We travelled to the Cape and visited the whole area......very exciting. We also toured around Port Douglas, which we found a very nice area. We stop along the way in the small towns to view their sites.

The North is an interesting place and should be promoted much more in your tourism brochure.

Cairns to all of us was a great place, especially the Esplanade , with that great public pool.
